Setting the Scene





Add a PC, configure a static IP address

Device Configuration

Wireless Router – click on wireless router

In the config tab, select Wireless from the menu on the left and configure the SSID,
this can be any name but choose a meaningful name. In most access points and
routers you can also set it up so that it does not broadcast the SSID. This is more

Choose the channel or leave on default 6
Choose Authentication for Security, set as WEP in the example above
Choose encryption Type: 40/64-Bits
Enter wep key, has to be 10 digits in hex. E.g. a9b9c9d9e9
PLEASE NOTE: most routers and access points allow you to set up MAC filtering that
allows you to configure a list of allowed devices based on their MAC addresses.

In the config tab, select LAN from the menu on the left and configure an IP address
in the same range as the PC’s IP address as shown below, this will ensure that
wireless clients receive an IP in the same range for the whole network.
Laptop – Click on Laptop
o In Physical Tab – turn laptop off
o Remove Ethernet Port
o Add module WPC300N
o Turn Laptop back on
o In Desktop Tab – select PC Wireless

In the wireless adapter config page choose connect
The Wireless Network Name will display, select required wireless network and click on
connect
Enter network credentials e.g. WEP key.
Click Connect
Test all connections are active using a ping test.
