1. Introduction
This research was conducted in the garden of Dr Romanus Kampungu Senior
Secondary School. It was carried on from 11 May 2022 to 06 August 2022. The
main aim of this investigation is to compare the germination , growth and yield of
beans under cattle manure VS goat manure. To make this investigation a success
. I prepared two seedbeds ; one was applied with Goat manure and the other was
applied with Cattle manure.
-Hypothesis
-Beans can grow well and produce more yield if grown under Goat manure.
-Background
The most common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) originated as wild vine in central
and South Africa . A bean is a very nutritious vegetable it consist of 9.6g protien
,10.5g of carbohydrates and 0.5g of fats .There are various types of beans namely
Black beans, Cannellini beans , Chickpeas , Lima beans ect.. Beans are planted in
3cm depth .They take about 6-15 days to germinate under correct conditions
2. Methodology
-On the 11th of may 2022 . I prepared two seedbeds with the length of 3m . In
plot A I mixed the soil with goat manure and in plot B I mixed the soil with cattle
manure the fertilisers were mixed with soil upon the preparation of seedbed.
-Planting was done immediately after one week of seedbed preparation , The
depth of seeds is 3m and the seeds were planted 30cm apart in both plots to
prevent the plants from competing for water , nutrients etc.. 12 seeds were
planted in both plots .
-Watering was done Morning and evening . When it was cool and "sunless" to
prevent / control evaporation
3.
Data collection and analysis
-Data was collected according to the germination rate in two weeks and percentage of
how many seeds actually grew/germinated.
-Germination rate will be shown on a graph form
-Growth of the seeds will be presented on a histograph
-percentage of how many seeds that fully grew will be shown on a pie chart

Growth of Beans
- The graph below shows the growth rate of beans starting from week 2 to week 8,
-in week 2, plot A (goat manure)
-in week 4 , plot A (goat manure) 6 beans grew and in plot B (cattle manure only 2 beans
grew)
-in week 6 , plot A (goat manure) 8 beans grew and in plot B (cattle manure only 3 beans
grew)
-in week 8 , plot A (goat manure) 12 beans grew and in plot B (cattle manure only 5 beans
grew)
4 beans grew and in plot B (cattle manure only 1 bean grew)

Yield of Beans in percentage

This pie chart shows the yield of the beans in each plot after 8 weeks . I got the
percentage by dividing the total of germinated seeds in both plots which is 12 + 5=17
17 by each of the plots germinated seeds multiplied by hundred.

5. Limitation and improvement
*Weeds
-Weed was a problem in the school's garden , Because there were very
few handtools such as hoes to handle the weeds
*Watering
-water was a problem in the school garden, the school garden only has
one tap. So watering was a problem
Suggestions for improvement
*The school should buy more hand tools and other agricultural
equipment’s
*More taps should be installed in the school gardens.
6. Acknowledgement
> Firstly I would like to say I'm grateful to my agriculture teacher.
-I'm grateful to my colleagues /Classmates
7. Findings and conclusion
Findings
-I've found out that goat manure is much more effective then cattle
manure according to my investigation , since my investigation was
completed effectively . I would strongly say the more nutritious the
fertiliser the more yield.
Conclusion
The hypothesis is proven to be correct, since beans grew much faster
and more yield was produced using goat manure in plot A .
on the other hand beans also grew in cattle manure but it was not as
great as in goat manure
therefore I'd recommend a farmer who would like to produce higher
yield to use goat manure because of it high amount of nutrients and it is
having more advantages
