7th grade ELA Independent Reading Title: Boy: Tales of Childhood by Roald Dahl 2 As part of Unit 4, students are expected to independently read a memoir. Independently means we will not read this together or have formal class discussions about this book. Students will be graded on completion of this reading log and may have tests on chapters of the book or a large test at the end of the book. The chapters in this book are short and easily managed. There are 25 chapters so one chapter a day is an easy guide to stay on track. The reading log is meant to have students reflect on what is read and to build background as the book is read. Most activities are "in your opinion" questions, but they must be fully explained and proper grammar is required. The book and reading log must be finished on or before May 20, 2021. Please remember that this is in addition to our regular classroom assignments, not instead of. Both things must be done. 3 “Reading is breathing in. Writing is breathing out.” -Pam Allyn- 4 Read the dedication page (For Alfhild, Else, Asta, Ellen and Lous). 1. What is the author's purpose for writing the book? 2.
