Millennial Teachers awaken the Educators’ Gazette As a response upon the call for re-publishing the school’s official newsletter, The Educators’ Gazette, the Manat National High School headed by the School Paper Adviser Ms. Jade Karen R. Araiz conducted an extensive three-day school-based workshop on 20 selected Manat National High School Teachers last May 18-20, 2021. The workshop was officially opened by the Master Teacher I of Manat National High School, Mrs. Andrelyn R. Cruz and quoted that “Read a thousand books and your words will flow like a river” which made the participants inspired and eager to learn. “Participants of the Journalism Writing were trained with the basic writing in news, feature, and editorial and how to publish a newsletter,” the school paper adviser said. According to Cleo Faye S. Silverio one of the participants in Journalism writing that the training is a big help in refreshing her background on basic journalism. “Writing does not only involve the hand but also with the heart,” Ms. Silverio added. The three-day workshop was participated by twenty selected Manat NHS teachers in which ten teachers are trained for news, feature, and editorial writing while the other ten participants were trained on desktop publishing. “The Participants in desktop publishing were taught how to use Indesign and Photoshop in layouting the content of the school’s official newsletter.” Randy Gestosani, a lambak layout artist of Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School specified. Moreover, John Niño L. Ligan, participant of Desktop Publishing, considered this workshop as challenging and needs time and perseverance in order to layout the required newsletter. The workshop entitled “Write Here, Write Now: a three-day School-Based Workshop on News, Editorial, Feature Writing, and Desktop Publishing for Teachers” was administered to resume The Educators’ Gazette and to discover the new staff of the editorial board. Amidst the pandemic, the Manat National High School together with the faculty and staff prioritized on providing information to the different stakeholders of the school.
