Biology 30s Blood & Immunity Blood Type Testing How do we test for blood type? Antiserum is a solution that contains antibodies against a specific antigen (i.e. antiserum A contains Anti-A antibodies). Blood type is determined by adding antiserum A, B and D/Rh to a blood sample and observing whether or not agglutination occurs. If the blood sample remains uniform in appearance, there is no agglutination /clumping (negative test result). If the sample appears granular, agglutination (positive test result) has occurred.
