Submitting your Thesis
Submitting in your student portal is the standard. However, you can give a great impression by
going the extra mile:
● Obvious one but… double-check you are submitting the correct document! Often, there
are different versions that have been generated at different stages of the writing and
editing process. Keep your final version in a folder with a distinctive name by itself and
open it to double-check before you submit.
● Keep a screenshot of the confirmation webpage after you submit and send it to your
school admin together with an attached PDF of your thesis immediately after. Say
something like “Just confirming I have submitted my PhD thesis (also attached to this
e-mail) five minutes ago. Let me know if it has gone through OK.” This will help keep a
record in case anything with the portal goes wrong (happens more often than not).
● Straight after this, send an email with a PDF version the Registrar and the Secretary of
Herts. CC yourself in.
