Smartphones Overview
The Channel Element Capacity for EUL Smartphones feature reduces the CE cost
for EUL 2 ms and increases the number of EUL 2 ms devices which can be
connected at the same time.

Summary
This feature decreases the CE cost for 2 ms E-DCH RL to 2 CE at the initial setup,
and when the user is granted a single HARQ process.
The feature brings the following benefits:
— Reduced CE cost for EUL 2 ms.
— A higher number of EUL 2 ms devices to be connected simultaneously for a
given amount of available CE.
— Less CE consumption for the same number of EUL 2 ms devices.
— More room for higher bit rates and better end user experience.

Network Impact of Channel Element
Capacity for EUL Smartphones
The Channel Element Capacity for EUL Smartphones feature increases the UL
HW capacity of the Radio Node.
Capacity and Performance
With the feature, more users are allowed in the RN. It is also possible to setup 64
2-ms E-DCH users in one RXM and 256 2ms TTI Radio Links in DUW30.
Interfaces

Activate Channel Element Capacity for EUL
Smartphones
The Channel Element Capacity for EUL Smartphones feature has four features
prerequisite for the activation. The feature requires CXC 402 1014 license key
installation and appropriate featureState parameter configuration to be
activated.
Prerequisites
— License key CXC 402 1014 is installed for the Channel Element Capacity for
EUL Smartphones feature. For more information about license, refer to
Licenses and Hardware Activation Codes in Ericsson Software Model.
— The following features are activated:
— FAJ 121 1023: Enhanced Uplink Introduction Package
— FAJ 121 1317: Enhanced Uplink, 2 ms TTI
— FAJ 121 1443: EUL single HARQ Process Scheduling
— FAJ 121 1334: Improved Channel Element Ladder for E-DCH
Steps
1. Set the attribute to ACTIVATED, depending on the node type:

The appropriate featureState parameter configuration allows to deactivate the
Channel Element Capacity for EUL Smartphones feature.
Prerequisites
This feature has no prerequisites for deactivating.
Steps
1. Set the attribute to DEACTIVATED, depending on the node type:
