NEW ZEALAND BACKGROUND CHECK PROCESS and FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS We are happy that you are interested in working for Amazon and we are excited to take the next steps with you. Amazon values its employees and makes every effort to provide a positive working environment. To that end, the company asks each of its employees before hire to participate in a background check process. Your active participation is a key aspect of completing the background check process successfully. We are more than happy to assist you throughout the background check process. Please contact your recruiter of HR Representative should you require support or if you have any questions. Steps 1) You have received an email from Screening Services Team that includes information regarding your background check (BGC). Please follow the steps required and respond promptly to any requests for additional information. Failure to do so will result in a delay in the hiring process. 2) You will receive an email from our vendor, Accurate Background, which will include a link to a secure web site with log in and password information (check your junk folder if you do not receive the e-mail). You’ll be asked to sign in to consent the background check process and to release personal information. You should be prepared to provide the following information: Personal data including passport number. Address History: current address and all countries you have lived/stayed for twelve (12) months in the past seven (7) years. Employment history (three employers up to 10 years of employment): employer name, supervisor, phone number and address of employer, dates employed, position title, reason for leaving. [If required] Educational history (highest degree completed): school name, dates attended, phone number and address of institution, whether you graduated, graduation date, degree earned, and major course of study. After providing your information, ensure you click the "I Agree and Continue" button at the end of the entry process, otherwise, the information will not be received and your background check will not be initiated. New Zealand Criminal Check If you are not currently living in New Zealand and has not lived in this country in the last seven (7) years, you will be exempted from completing this criminal check and will be asked to submit to a criminal check in the country of your residence. If you are currently living in New Zealand or lived in this country for twelve (12) months during the last seven (7) years, you will be asked to fill out the Ministry of Justice Application Form and to provide a copy of your valid ID. • Ministry of Justice Application Form: Sign the Notice of Processing. Complete Steps 1 to 4 and provide scan copy of ID in Step 3. The signature on the MOJ form must match the signature on the candidate's ID. If signatures do not match, the candidate will need to correct their signature on the MOJ form to avoid delays. Copy of ID must include a signature and cannot be more than 2 years expired for citizens. Passports cannot be expired for non-citizens. If you do not have a driver's license, passport, or firearms license, complete Step 5. IMPORTANT: - When scanning documents, please provide high-resolution copies. Incomplete forms and documents that are not clear or legible will delay completion of the criminal search. Failure to provide documents in a timely manner will result in delays in processing your screening. Be sure to provide all requested information and documentation as soon as possible because your background check will only fully initiate once you respond to this request. If you anticipate any delays, contact your recruiter or HR Representative immediately. If you are unsure about any details, verify the information before supplying it as dishonesty may preclude you from employment. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) What if I am unable to log in to the Accurate Background system or I am unable to upload documentation? Contact Accurate Background directly for any login issues. Please directly send an email to their Customer Service Team (customer_service@accuratebackground.com) or call 0011 1 800 216 8024 (international long distance rates apply). Customer Service operating hours: 12:00pm-8:30pm and 10:00pm-11:00am, Tuesday through Friday, and Sunday from 10:00pm to 11:00am Monday. If I am currently employed, can I opt out of employment verification? If you are currently employed, you may defer verification of your current employer until after you receive an offer of employment. Be sure to indicate “do not contact my current employer” on the Accurate Background online form. Note: If you have transferred from one position to another within your current company, list the company only once in the system. Listing your current employer twice will not ensure that your current employer will not be contacted. If you opt out, provide to Screening Services Team proof of employment. What information about my previous employment do I need to provide? Please have the following information ready for each employer: company name, supervisor, phone number, address, dates employed, position, reason for leaving, and whether or not your current employer may be contacted. Note: All verifications are conducted directly through Human Resources, Personnel, or Payroll Departments. If the company does not have a Human Resources, Personnel, or Payroll Department, the verification will be performed by the appropriate personnel not necessarily by the person provided by you. What if one of my previous employers is out of business or I do not have their contact information? It is important to list all requested employers on the background check form. If the company is out of business, note this on the form. If you are not able to locate all of the employer’s contact information, list all information you have even if it is incomplete. What if I am currently enrolled in university, haven’t applied for graduation, have outstanding fees or other obligations, or for some other reason don’t have a diploma in my possession? If required for the position you are applying for, Amazon will verify the highest level of education completed. If you do not have a diploma in your possession, do not indicate that you have graduated on the background check form. Contact your school or university before completing the background check form to confirm your educational status. If you indicate that you have a degree on the background check form and it has not yet been posted (even if you have met all the requirements in order to graduate) or you haven’t completed the program of study, your opportunity for employment at Amazon will be affected. If you are a current student, haven’t completed the course of study, or have other outstanding obligations that are preventing you from graduating or having your degree posted, list the highest level of education completed and for which you have a diploma.
