Tasks:
1. Read the chapter on Blackboard on ethics and corporate social responsibility which is
taken from the following source:
Hellriegel, D., Slocum, J., Jackson, S.E., Louw, L., Staude, G., Amos, T., Klopper, H.B.,
Louw, M. & Oosthuizen, T., Perks, S. & Zindiye, S. 2012. Management. 4th Edition. Cape
Town: Oxford University Press.
2. Search the newspapers, internet and/or academic journals for an article detailing an
ethical issue that a big organization is currently dealing with. This article cannot be older
than two (2) years. This could be in relation to the environment, to social media and
information sharing, to animal rights abuses, etc.
3. Write an essay in which you:







Provide an introduction which follows the correct format as per handout
Ethics defined and discussed and context provided
Describe the ethical issue discussed in the article. Explain:
i. what happened
ii. What did the company do that was unethical
iii. Or what were they accused of
iv. provide the URL link to where you found the article on the internet.
Apply the three ethical models discussed in the blackboard chapter to the
issues being faced in this article
Identify the stakeholders of the organization and consider how each of them are
likely to view the decision made.
Based on the above discussion, provide your OWN opinion on whether the
organization made the right decision from an ethical point of view.

At least one source must be the article that outlines the decision you have chosen to
evaluate in your essay. The other source must be the blackboard chapter (see
reference above).

Your assignment must conform to the APA method of citation and referencing.
