The island group has three (3) regions
namely:
• Region VI (Western Visayas)
• Region VII (Central Visayas)
• Region VIII (Eastern Visayas)
Region VII

A region of the Philippines located in the central
part of the Visayas island group. It consists of four
provinces Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor
and the highly urbanized cities of Cebu City, LapuLapu City, and Mandaue City. The region is
dominated by the native speakers of Cebuano.

Total Land area: 14,923 square kilometers

Total population: 8,081,988 based on the 2020
Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH)

making it the 5th most populous of the country’s 17
regions.

Chocolate Hills
The Chocolate Hills are a geological
formation in the Bohol province of
the Philippines. There are at least
1,260 hills but there may be as many
as 1,776 hills spread over an area of
more than 50 square kilometers.
They are covered in green grass
that turns brown during the dry
season, hence the name.

Tarsier
The Philippine tarsier, known
locally as mawumag in
Cebuano and other Visayan
languages, and magô in
Waray, is a species of tarsier
endemic to the Philippines. It is
found in the southeastern part
of the archipelago, particularly
on the islands of Bohol, Samar
and Leyte.

Mount Kanlaon
Kanlaon, also known as Mount
Kanlaon and Kanlaon Volcano, is an
active stratovolcano and the highest
mountain on the island of Negros in
the Philippines, as well as the highest
point in the Visayas, with an elevation
of 2,465 m above sea level. Mount
Kanlaon ranks as the 42nd-highest
peak on an island in the world
