About Yoga Bharati
Yoga Bharati is a non-profit, voluntary organization with a vision of enhancing Health
(physical), Happiness (mental), Knowledge (intellectual) & Peace (Spiritual) in life through a
holistic approach to yoga.
Vision: May We Nourish all with Health and Happiness through Holistic Yoga.
Mission: To serve the community by: 1) offering affordable classes and workshops to
support a healthy lifestyle; 2) Offering training courses backed by evidence based yoga
techniques to enable transformation of the self and the society ; 3) Promoting yoga and its
benefits through community engagement.
We are affiliated with Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation VYASA, a premier Yoga
University in Bengaluru, India. Based on 30 years of in-depth study in the field of yoga and
spirituality, SVYASA has published many research papers on yoga and its therapeutic
applications. Our goal is to combine the best of the West (modern scientific research) with
the best of the East (yoga and spirituality).
We conduct yoga classes, workshops, retreats, and programs aimed at creating awareness
about yoga, its philosophy, and its relevance to the entire humanity. Our goal is to build a
team of motivated volunteers to achieve our mission and vision. We invite learned yoga
Gurus from India and also ask local experts to conduct discourses, camps and workshops.
Holistic Yoga - Our Philosophy of Yoga Education
“Education should be life building, man making, character building, assimilation of ideas” –
says Swami Vivekananda. Yoga is a holistic way of achieving this goal. Yoga Bharati aims to
provide a path to our students towards this goal through our courses. We conduct various
courses including Diploma in Yoga Therapy (DYT).
We give an overview of the entire spectrum of yoga fields throughout our course showing
the students the holistic aspects of yoga at all five koshas (sheaths) of personality as
3
described by the yogic texts. We also educate our students on the four paths to achieve
this goal of yoga:
1. Raja Yoga - the discipline through the practice of asanas, pranayama and
meditation
2. Karma Yoga - the path of selfless action without expectation of the fruits thereof
3. Bhakti yoga - the path of love, devotion and surrender
4. Jnana Yoga - the path of self-study and contemplation
Our courses attempt to guide our students in achieving their own health and harmony
through sadhana (practice) and with this experience, our students take up the cause of
guiding others in the community towards this positive health at all five layers of our
personality. The Annamaya Kosha — physical sheath of our personality may experience
health and harmony through asana and kriyas. The Pranamaya kosha — the vital sheath
can be addressed through pranayama. The Manomaya Kosha — the emotional sheath gets
peace through the culturing of positive emotions and through yama and niyamas, the basic
ethics as suggested by Patanjali, the father of yoga. The Vijnanamaya Kosha – the intellect
experiences health and harmony through Swadhyaya (self-study) and contemplation of
situations and the nature of the world and its relation with life. Finally we touch Ananda –
the happiness and the journey goes on to deepen our state of Anandamaya Kosha by
removing our tendency towards worries, attachments, negative habits and strive towards
the goal of sustained peace and bliss, the goal of yoga.

be responsible to and for oneself. As we practice yoga, remember to do nothing that
does not sound correct or appropriate for your body or for your overall personality, and
your respectable place in the society.

Discontinued Programs
If Yoga Bharati discontinues instruction in any program after students enter training,
including the circumstances in which Yoga Bharati changes its generally announced location
areas within the Bay Area (30 mile driving distance), students will be notified in writing of
such events and are entitled to a prorated refund of all tuition and fees paid unless
comparable training is arranged for by the school and agreed upon, in writing, by the
student. A written request for such a refund will be made within 90 days from the date the
program was discontinued or relocated and the refund will be paid within 30 days after
receipt of such a request.
Termination by the School
A student who fails to maintain satisfactory progress, violates safety regulations, interferes
with other students’ work, is disruptive, obscene, under the influence of alcohol or drugs,
or does not make timely tuition payments, is subject to immediate termination.
Cancellation of Classes
The school reserves the right to cancel the course if the number of students enrolling is
insufficient. Such a cancellation will be considered a rejection by the school and will entitle
the student to a full refund of all money paid.
Notice to the Applicant
Do not sign this agreement before you read it or if it contains any blank spaces. This is a
legal document. All pages of this agreement are binding. Read both sides of all pages
before signing. You are entitled to an exact copy of the agreement, school catalog, and any
other papers you may sign, and are required to sign a statement acknowledging receipt of

Cancellation of Contract
If you have not started training, you may cancel this contract by submitting written notice
of such cancellation to the school at its address shown on the contract, which notice shall

the burden to prove service rests on the sender.
Unfair Business Practices:
It is an unfair business practice for the school to sell, discount, or otherwise transfer this
contract or promissory note without the signed written consent of the student or his/her
parent or guardian if he/she is a minor and a written statement notifying all parties that
the cancellation and refund policy continues to apply.

every subject and it is hard to separate the portions. Our program director asks for the degree, transcripts,
and also a detailed interview will be taken to ensure they know the subjects well.
Transfer of Credits from our Affiliated Organizations:
Students are allowed to do their internship and electives in our affiliated organizations such as SVYASA
Bangalore and VYASA chapters for a total of 130 hours along with 300 transfer hours (as above).
