It borders Libya to the North, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria to the west, Sudan to the east and Central African Republic (CAR) to the South. In addition, Chad is one of the members of Central African Monetary and Economic Community (EMAC) together with the Republic of Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Central African Republic (CAR). According to (2019 estimates) Chad is ranked as the 5th largest country geographically with a total population of about 15.81 million people. However, in reference to the World Bank in the year 2019 Chad had a per capita Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of USD 1,645 at purchasing power parity (PPP). The economy of Chad greatly depends on Agriculture and oil exports. In fact, oil contributes largest to the revenue of Chad’s government through exportation. Other nonoil exports by Chad include; cattle, cotton sesame, gold and gam Arabic. They too contribute significantly to the government revenue of Chad. Since most of the population in Chad greatly rely on livestock rearing and subsistence farming the government of Chad therefore, proceeds to plan on diversifying the economy, accelerate export of value-added products and develop formal economy by 2030. In 2018, India qualified as top importer of Chad’s products with 30%. Basically, the country with the largest importation of Chad’s oil contribute significantly to the importation by Chad. Thus, mutual dependence. China stands as the leading suppler of Chad’s imports of about 23% (2018 statistics). Basically, Chad is more advantaged through its exported products. For instance, a product like cotton creates employment opportunities for majority of those working in the cotton industries and also accounts greatly to Chad’s GDP. Due to the fact that Chad is able to export oil and agricultural products, this contributes greatly to her economy. For instance, income earned is used by the government to improve the economy of Chad for example building roads and also improving the living standards of her population.
