Create a newspaper about ancient Greek mythology.

In this assignment, you will create a four-page newspaper about Greek mythology.
Your newspaper will consist of the following elements:
• Page 1: a headline story
• Page 2: two smaller stories (an interview, a sports story, or another news piece)
• Page 3: a letter to the editor and a classified advertisement
• Page 4: an obituary
Assignment Instructions
Step 1) Gather materials and necessary information.
a) Review your eNotes about Greece. Be sure to focus on the development of Greek culture.
Recall that Greek mythology served as the foundation for Greek religion.
Well-known Greek gods and goddesses include Zeus and Athena.
They exhibited human characteristics and emotions, such as jealousy and anger.
b) A strong newspaper will be detailed, clearly organized, and make good use of text and graphics.
c) Ask your teacher whether you will be using presentation, drawing, word-processing, or artistic software to
develop the newspaper.
Step 2) Consider the required elements of the poster.
a) Your newspaper should include a headline story.
A headline story is the paper’s biggest, most important story.
News stories should:
• provide key facts – who, what, where, when, and why?
• attempt to show all sides of a story in a balanced way.
b) Your newspaper should include an interview.
• An interview is a report of a conversation.
c) Your newspaper should include a letter to the editor.
• A letter to the editor is written by a reader to give an opinion on a topic.
d) Your newspaper should include an obituary.
• An obituary is a report on someone’s death, usually describing events in that person’s life.

Step 3) Think about these steps for creating a successful newspaper.
a) Plan: – Sketch out your newspaper and articles on a piece of paper.
b) Draft: – Create a rough draft of your newspaper.
c) Revise: – Review your work, correct mistakes, and make improvements.
Step 4) Evaluate your poster using this checklist. When you can answer “yes” to all the questions, you are ready to
submit your poster.

c) Ask your teacher for further instructions about whether you will be presenting your newspaper to an audience
of your peers.
