project is to install a sensor for indicating wrongly parked cars through an app called Palert, Our

2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As it has been observed that with growing number of population, the number of vehicles are also
increasing. Mostly in urban areas and in big metropolitan cities, the major problem which is faced
is traffic congestion problem. This problem is faced on daily basis by commuters going for work
or for any other important activity. (Al-Jabi and Sammaneh 2019).Their time, energy and fuel is
wasted by sticking in traffic jams for hoirs.It also causes air and noise pollution and even
frustration among the drivers. Mostly in Pakistan, it has been observed that these traffic
congestion are caused by the wrongly parked vehicles which blocks the road and results in
congestion. Many lives are also lost through this as ambulances cannot pass by in emergency
situations.(Kumar Gandhi and Kameswara Rao 2016)
In order to solve these issues we have proposed an idea of installing a Car parking sensor which
will indicate the owner through a mobile application of their car being parked wrongly and is
causing trouble on roads. This sensor will also allow in taking images of people trying to steal car
accessories which will be sent to the app known as Palert of the owner. Sensor will also contain
a voice recorder feature through which people will be able to send a voice message to the owner
indicating them about the damages and problems their car is causing pother citizens
We aim to be a responsible citizen by proposing this idea as this will help the issues of traffic
congestion, fights and quarrels on roads, excess fuel consumption, and wastage of time and air
pollution.

3. THE TEAM
Our team comprises of four members and below are the brief description of each team member:

Komal has done Bachelors in Commerce from Karachi University. She is also ACMA finalist and
is currently enrolled in last semester of MBA with Majors in Banking and Finance at IOBM.
 RUQIA HYDER-23775
Ruqia has done Bachelors in Science from DA College for women, and is currently enrolled in
last semester of MBA with majors in Banking and Finance at IOBM.
 INTESAR MEHDI-23833
Intesar has done Bachelors in Commerce from Karachi university and is currently enrolled in
last semester of MBA-finance with bi-majors in supply chain at IOBM.He is working at Kaizen
Pharma as a Management Trainee Officer.

Siraj has done Bachelors in Commerce from Karachi University and is PIPFA qualified. He is

4. IDEA RESUME
1. Major Issue/Problem
The population of Pakistan is increasing rapidly which results in increasing number of vehicle
manufacturing. This is mainly because people want their own conveyance in order to travel. Till
2050, according to a research almost 70% people will be residing in urban areas although its
population has drastically increased from last years.(Saeliw et al., n.d.) This will be a serious issue
for the municipals and government to handle such a huge population. As the number of vehicles
are increasing, the major problem faced in urban areas is the problem of traffic jams which are
mainly caused due to inappropriately parked cars causing huge traffic congestions on roads,
malls, streets etc. (Chinrungrueng, Sunantachaikul, and Triamlumlerd 2007).This traffic
congestion causes a lot of trouble for people to reach out to the places they were going like
offices. It has been observed that mostly in peak hours, this congestion issue is seen. It also causes
frustration for the driver and a lot of hassle as well. People waste a lot of time, energy and fuel
in traffic congestions and are not able to reach where they were trying to reach.
Another major problem is the problem of car theft or the accessories of the car being mugged
off by some individuals as people are not aware of such activities because the cars are parked far
away from their reach or the car alarms result in false alarms as all the cars have same sound.
Car alarms are not the best solution in such situation. GPS systems are able to locate the theft
vehicle but it is not convenient for prompt action and even GPS systems fails at certain locations
such as indoor, underground parking and underpasses.(Amusa, Nuga, and Adetomi 2012)
2. The Idea/Job to be done.

In order to solve the above mentioned issue, we have come up with a solution of Smart Parking Sensor
for informing the owner of the wrongly parked car for immediate action. This can be done by following
steps:





Installing a parking sensor at front of the car that will help the owner know that his or her car is
parked wrongly and is causing problems for the citizens.
The sensor will be attached to the mobile application which will be installed in the owner’s mobile
through which people who are facing issue can easily by touching the sensor can inform the
owner.
This can be done by simply touching the sensor, which will ultimately send a popup message on
the owner’s mobile for quick action.
It will also include voice message recorder function through which any person can send voice
message to the app (Palert), for parking the car accordingly.
It will also have the function to capture the image and send it to app of the owner in case of any
mishandling or theft activity. This will help the owner know who had done it for quick action. Even
if the person was not able to catch the thief, he will be able to report it to Police with the proof
of that thief’s image.
3. Impact Potential

Reducing Traffic Jams
This sensor will help in reducing traffic jams by informing the owner for its wrongly parked
car simply by touching the sensor or by sending a voice message.

Saving lives by letting ambulance pass through immediately
It will help in saving lives of people by letting the ambulances pass by without any traffic
congestion.

Avoiding delay in reaching a place
People will be able to reach to their destinations on time without any delay.

Resulting in responsible citizenship by caring for others.
Through this solution, people will start being responsible by knowing their mistakes and
helping each other by solving them in order not to cause any issue for the public.

Reduction in Theft Cases
It will result in mitigating theft cases because now the thieves will know that this sensor
will capture their image as a proof of robbery so they will be reluctant to perform such
activities.


There will be decrease in road accidents due to traffic jams caused by wrongly parked
vehicles.
Controlling Air Pollution
Traffic jams causes a lot of wastage of fuel and petrol which results in air pollution. It can
be mitigated by successful installation of this sensor.
4. Consumption Barrier
People will find it somewhat wastage of time because they rather don’t want to use it or are
not ready to accept tithe main barrier would be the awareness in such people for using this
sensor in order to avoid this daily problem of traffic congestion. People who don’t care about
sticking in traffics or are used to will oppose this idea.
5. Critical Uncertainties



The installation cost can be costly and people will not allow it without knowing its advantages.
Sensor can be malfunctioned in case of windy and dusty weather.
People would try to misuse in false allegations and alarms just for fun.
5. KEY FEATURES
1. Installation of Parking Sensor in Convenient Place
The sensor will be installed at a place on the car which will convenient and easily seen by the
public in case of any mishandling or traffic congestion situation. It will be installed at front
side of the car for easy view and identification.

2. Sensor linked to Mobile Application for Prompt Informing
This parking sensor will be linked to the mobile application installed on the smart phone of
the owner. Which will help people in informing the owner about the trouble their car is
causing to other citizens.
This app will be linked to the sensor attached
on the car. People can easily identify it and by
touching the sensor, a message will pop up on
the mobile of the owner to park their car
accordingly. It will have other features as
well. Such as: Image and voice recorder.
Palert app has been developed as a prototype
which will be attached to a sensor on a car
through which person can be easily notified by
sending a voice message or text message. If
someone try to fidget with the car, image will
be captured of that person.

3. LOG IN and Profile Creation.
Palert app allows the owner of the car to
register by providing their email address and
creating a password.
After logging into the app, following screen
will appear including profile where people
can easily add their details, it will also
include location of the vehicle through
google map, message alert and image
indicator as well.

Owner can now add their personal
information which includes; their name,
CNIC, email address, Phone number and
car registration number.
4. Voice Message Recording Facility
If the vehicle is causing issues of traffic congestion and causing problem for others, people
can easily send a Voice message by simply recording it through the sensor which will be
directly send to the owner’s mobile on the App (Palert), for quick action.

5. Image Capturing Ability
In case of any theft or mishandling with the vehicle the sensor will immediately capture the image
of the person trying to steal something from the car or causing any damage to it.This image will
then be sent to the app of the owner through which he can take quick action or even can report
the damages to the police with the proof of image of the thief.
Image will be send on the app of the owner of
a person trying to fidget or steal something
with the help of sensor installed on the car. In
case of any damage, image can also be
captured of the car.

Owners can easily change settings of

change themes, can share app with
others for awareness and can view
privacy policy from this page.

We are following customers:
 Personal Car Owners
We are targeting people owning personal cars which involves people who go offices on daily
basis or any person who goes out for any reason and is facing the problem of traffic jams.
 Commercial Use
We will also be targeting cars with commercial use that is uber and careem.People who do
not have their own conveyance usually travel by uber or careem.Traffic jam problem is for
them as well which causes high fares due to such blockage.

 App Development Cost
We will develop an application for smart phone users which will be attached to the sensor
for wrongly parked car indication through sms, voice message or image recorder.
Its cost will be one time which will be PKR.500, 000
 Software for Add-On Cost
Sensors are already built in cars nowadays, so we will be adding an Add-On feature in the
sensors which will require a software which will be developed for this feature. This add. On
cost will be PKR.80,000.This will also be one time cost as once the software is developed,
it can be used in as many sensors as much is needed just by enabling or disabling this feature.
 Marketing Cost
The Marketing cost will be incurred for 6 months and it is as follows:

9. THE WAY FORWARD
At this moment we are targeting only customers who have cars either personal or for
commercial. In future we would like to expand this facility to Wagons, coasters, HIACE and Hiroof segments as well. People owning such vehicles will also be our goal to target in future.
As for now, we are in link with only one organization which is in tracking sector. But in future we
aim to collaborate with different automobile companies as well after success of this proposal.
This will help in getting more reach and targeting more customers. By doing so, the limit will not
be constraint and the awareness among people about our aim to solve the issue of wrongly
parked cars will be increased with more exposure.
