Vaccine Logistics Michael Miller Professor Travis Business Analytics March 31, 2022 The transportation of vaccines across the world is already a hard task. However, when the global pandemic hit it made this already hard task seem even that more impossible. There are tedious requirements regarding the storage, handling, and shipment of vaccines. For instance, the covid vaccines required storage temperatures of around 90 degrees celsius. This is lower than the average storage temperatures for flu vaccines by 20 degrees. There are many fewer facilities capable of storing vaccines at these temperatures compared to those that can store regular flu vaccines. This along with the fact that there were travel and other restrictions on products moving between countries created quite the problem for those trying to inoculate the global population. However, through all this America has been able to fully vaccinate around 65 percent of the population. As time passes we may be able to reach a high enough percent to attain herd immunity.
