WRITESHOP IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCALIZED AND CONTEXTUALIZED TEACHING GUIDES FOR
MATHEMATICS GRADE 1-6 and EARLY GRADES NUMERACY TRAINING AND PREPARATION OF
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS FOR K to 3

1. In line with the Localization and Contextualization thrusts of the Enhanced Basic Education
Curriculum which direct all schools and learning programs to relate curriculum content and
competencies to the social and educational context of the learners and in continuous effort to
strengthen the foundation of early grades learners in Mathematics this Division will conduct
Writeshop on the Development of Localized and Contextualized Teaching guides (LCTG) and
Learning activities and assessment (LAA) in Mathematics for Grades 1 to 6 and training for K to 3
Teachers in numeracy and preparation of Instructional Materials on April 18-22, 2016 at Division
Library Hub, and former ALS center at DepEd Division Office, Catbalogan City.
2. The purpose of the writeshop is to continue developing the LCTG and LAA for Quarter I and II,
which will be used as supplemental guide in teaching mathematics and elementary school for SY
2016-2017.
3. The objective of the training is to provide teachers with further knowledge and skills in teaching
numeracy to early grades.
4. The aforementioned activity will be participated by selected mathematics elementary teachers,
Math Key Administrators and Public School District Supervisors who will serve as writers,
consolidators and proof readers and 4 math teachers per municipality coming from Kinder to
Grade 1 to 3. (Attached is the list of participants)
5. The participants are requested to bring laptops, Teaching Guides, References in Mathematics and
pocket Wi-Fi and extended electrical cords during the writeshop.
6. The participants for Early Numeracy Training should bring working materials which will be needed
in the preparations of Instructional outputs.
7. The incidental and travel expenses in attendance to the write shop are chargeable against school
funds subject to auditing rules and procedures.
8. Immediate and wide dissemination of this Memorandum is highly requested.
