BASKETBALL RULES
COURT DIMENSIONS: 28x15m
3 PUNTS LINE: 6,75m FREE
THROW LINE: 5,80 m
GAME TIME: 4 periods of 10 minutes, with intervals of two
minutes between the first and second periods, and
between the third and fourth quarters, as well as a ten-minute
break between the second and third quarters.
PLAYERS: team of 12 players. 5 players start the match
PLAYER SPECIFIC SITES:
Point guard (also “1”): Plays in the central area and directs the
game
Shooting guard (also “2”): is the assistant of the base. Must
master botting and pitching.
Small / Power forward (also “3-4”): individual technique and a
good outside shot.
Center (also “5”): is the tallest player on the team. He must
grab the rebounds, he has to master the close shot
SCORE
From outside the 6'75 meter line is worth 3 points. From inside
the 6'75 meter line is worth 2 points. Free kick is worth 1 point

VIOLATIONS
- The passes: You cannot give three passes without throwing the ball. It is the action, then, of walking or running
without throwing the ball. Also, when moving the pivot foot, on a bounce, before the ball hits the ground.
- Doubles: It is not allowed to throw the ball with both hands. If it is thrown and stopped at a given moment, it
cannot be thrown again, unless it is touched by another player. Also, when he jumps with the ball in his hands and
falls to the ground without letting go.
- Back field: once the ball has passed midfield, it cannot return to its own field.
- Personal foul: When a player pushes an opponent, or prevents him from moving on the field, or touches his arm or
hand when making a throw, he is punished with a personal foul.
When a player has accumulated five, he must leave the field and a teammate replaces him. Also, if you insult or
protest, both the referee and the players of the opposing team.
- Unsportsmanlike foul: Occurs when a player commits a personal foul intentionally.
TIME VIOLATIONS
- 5 seconds: this is the maximum time a player can have the ball in his hands without bouncing, passing or shooting.
- 8 seconds. is the maximum time a team has to move to the opposite field.
- 24 seconds: this is the maximum time a team has to shoot a basket and play basketball or for the ball, at least, to
touch the hoop.
- 3 seconds in the area. Zone: You cannot stay three seconds or more in the opposite zone.
ATTACK ACTIONS
- DRIBLING OR BOT: protection or advancement bot
- PASS: chest, chop, over the head, baseball, with one hand...
- SHOOTING OR THROWING: tray, hook, smash, in suspension, ...
DEFENSE ACTIONS
- BASIC POSITION: the legs must be flexed
- INTERCEPTION: action by a defender to try to recover the ball when an attacker kicks or passes it.
- REBOUND: action in which a player tries to recover the ball thrown into the basket by a teammate or by an
opponent.
- MARKING: element of individual tactics.
DEFENSIVE GAME SYSTEMS
- The individual defense: system in which each defender is responsible for marking an attacker.
- Zone defense: game system based on the orderly arrangement
of the players of the defending team according to the position of the ball.
Each defending player is responsible for marking the attacker who is in his area. There are different types of zone
defense: the 2 - 3 and the 1 - 3 - 1 among others.
- The mixed defense: it is a combination of the previous systems, some players defend in an area, while one or two
players defend individually.
