Poetry Analysis – 10 points
Choose a poem. Read it twice or more. Look up words you do not know.
Write a text of 300 – 700 words on the template, trying to answer the following questions.
1. State the name of the poem and the name of the poet. What kind of poem is it
(sonnet, ballad, concrete poem, free verse, etc)?
2. What’s the theme or main topic?
3. What’s the occasion, time and place?
4. Who is the speaker?
5. Summarize the poem.
6. Talk about the imagery, the figurative language (metaphor, simile, metonymy,
personification, symbols, etc) and how it influences the meanings of the poem. Cite
one example and its correspondent meaning.
7. If necessary, talk about sound repetition, meter, rhyme, rhythm. Only if it influences
the meanings of the poem
