EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATION PROGRAM Kevin P. Guinsisana, LPT Subject Area Guide for SHS- Accountancy, Business & Management (ABM) Strand QUESTION: What educational principles have you learned in the four sessions of educational leadership certification training? How do you apply these principles in your profession? Answer: The educational principle/approach/practice that I’ve learned most in our previous sessions in educational leadership training is that the educators/educational leaders must concerned with the ‘poor’ students’. This refers not only to the financially- unstable but those who are poor in academic performance in the class. Being an educator, we must demonstrate compassion, caring and concern to our dear students in this challenging times now that most of their resources are very limited. If given by chance, being an educational leader is we must support the needs of both teachers and students for the sake of achieving the quality learning and competitiveness. With these learnings that I gained, it serves as a daily reminder that while we are conducting classes to our students, let’s open our minds, observe and assess their different capabilities and needs in order to meet everyone’s learning requirements. As an educator, applying this principle is always the best strategy that I can perform to get in connect with my students. It is also very challenging but fulfilling on my side that despite of limitations brought by pandemic is that I create an opportunity to push myself more to be with the students’ learning experience and they are growing with the knowledge and values I teach to them. I am very thankful for this wonderful opportunity to take up this educational leadership training; not only for my personal professional growth but also to strengthen my mission as an educator in a Catholic institution.
