SCHOOL LEADERS
Eng. 154
Who Are The School Leaders?
Principal
Assistant Principal
Parents
Teachers
What Are Their Roles?
Principal
• School Principals play integral roles in making
schools function smoothly.
• They are involved in all aspects of the school's
operation.
• They are the leaders responsible in providing
leadership in the development and
implementation of all educational programs and
projects in the school
• Republic Act No. 9155, Chapter 1 Section No. 7,
Letter E, Paragraph 3 states that consistent with
the national educational policies, plans and
standards, the school heads shall have the
Authority, Responsibility and Accountability
(AuRA) in managing all affairs of the school.
Thus, the success and failure of the school
depends on the kind of school principal it has.
Assistant Principal
◦ Assistant principals deal with the issues of
school management, student activities and
services, community relations, personnel, and
curriculum instruction.
◦ They coordinate with principals and board
members to assist in defining and enforcing
school policies and guidelines for students, staff,
and faculty
Assistant Principal
◦ Strong organizational skills
◦ Attention to detail
◦ A desire to help students succeed
◦ Trustworthiness
◦ Diplomacy
◦ Effective communicator.
◦ Familiar with technology
◦ The desire to be active and visible
Teacher
• The primary role of a
teacher is to deliver
classroom instruction that
helps students learn.
• There is almost no limit to
the roles a teachers may play.
Teacher as a Third
Parents
• Teachers are such a big
part of their students
lives; many develop
almost parental
relationship with them.
Teacher as
Intermediaries
• Teacher are only one part of a
larger equation. And teaching
demands almost daily
communication with families.
Teacher as
Advocates
A teacher's role is ever-changing. And
a responsive teacher counsels their
students to use the knowledge they
learn in school to become valuable
members of a society.
Role of
Parents
Parents have been known to
be a child's first teacher from
the moment a child is born
and as they mature into
adults, the traditional role of
parents involve teaching,
guiding, and raising children
to become strong standing
members of their
communities.
Parents
Schools alone cannot address all
of a child's developmental needs:
The meaningful involvement of
parents and support from the
community are essential.
All the experiences children have,
both in and out of school, help
shape their sense that someone
cares about them, their feelings
of self-worth and competency.
