Lesson Plan TOPIC: Email Etiquette for Students NAMES: Zining & Yining Lesson Objectives: ● SWBAT identify appropriate phrases and expressions when writing emails. ● SWBAT formulate polite requests to professors in college. Stages Formulate Requests to professors via emails Pre-Stage (4 min) -T1 elicits questions to Ss: Have you ever sent emails to your superior or your professor? What did you write in your email? - T2 uses Kahoot to assess students' prior knowledge of email etiquette. -T1 uses PowerPoint to go over the polite sentence structures shown in Kahoot. -T2 asks students if they need further explanation of specific phrases and expressions. Closing Kahoot PowerPoint During-Stage (7 min) ○ - T1 gives task instructions with 3 task settings (PPT). - requesting for sick leave - asking for an extension - making an appointment for office hour. - T2 divides Ss into 3 groups. - Each group will write an email with the assigned situation. - Each group member will formulate at least one sentence in the email. Ss will send their email to ziningh@upenn.edu for presentation. ○ Group1 will comment on Group 2. Group2 will comment on Group 3.
