Technology can change how teaching takes place, where and how learning takes
place and the roles of students and educators in the instructional process. ICT is changing
the educational process by bringing strong components to learning scenarios, including
virtual worlds. It is a powerful and impactful tool for expanding educational possibilities.
As a result, it is impossible to imagine future learning scenarios that are not enhanced by
information and communication technology.
Internet has been the greatest factor in all successful businesses, in the field of
medicine, and most importantly in our educational system. Learners can easily obtain
knowledge and information in a just a click away. In fact, because of the internet, online
learning is possible particularly nowadays as pandemic continues to threaten humanity.
Moreover, this introduction to digital media prepares young children and teenagers
for the skills they need to engage in technology both safely and responsibly. This one
factor in our educational system helps learners to study better and become more aware
of what is happening around them.
Many teachers, used some of the applications just like EXRECORDER, Messenger,
Google classroom, Google meet and zooming delivering their lessons to bridge the
learning gap that are being experienced by the learners. They even started making some
improvisation in their lesson delivery by making a power point presentation (PPT) based
on the SLMs. Having this kind of presentation in their class through Google meet/zoom,
somehow, help in addressing the educational needs of the students.
There are also different apps suits for distance teaching and learning. Flipgrid is a
free online application that allows students and teachers to record short, online videos.
Teachers can easily create accounts and then within accounts create “classrooms.” Similar
to Google Classroom, students join classrooms via a code. From there, teachers can
create posts for students to respond to via short videos.
Google Forms: This application is often used to gather information in a variety of
contexts (surveys, quizzes, etc.). Its quiz feature can be enabled to block users from
opening other windows. It also offers auto grading for multiple-choice tests.
WeVideo: An online video editor with free and paid accounts, WeVideo has
offered free upgrades to accounts for teachers and students during the pandemic
What’s more, digital technology education empowers and educates children by
providing them with the tools they need to thrive in an ever- changing digital world.
They can compete highly to other people since they have sufficient knowledge and
wisdom of the world they live in.
Digital resources are very important in using distance learning as the approach in
learning in this new normal. Simply because, internet, television, radio and the like are
the only resources they’ve got to learn without the risk of Covid-19 exposure.
The use of ICT in the classroom teaching and learning process is essential because
it allows educators and learners to operate, store, control, and retrieve data, in addition
to promoting self-regulated and active learning. ICT-based learning involves a broader
inclination for collaborative learning among learners and educators, rather than simply in
a single classroom. This kind of cooperation differs from the traditional learning
environment. Distance learning in this new normal, for example, motivates educators and
students to continue studying while students are at home.
