INVESTIGATION
Performance Task No. 1 (Quarter 1)
Most Essential Learning Competency:
Describe the components of scientific investigation. (S7MT-Ia-1)
Direction: Use the scientific method in solving the problem below through an experiment. Take a
picture or a video while performing the experiment.

The Scientific Method
One summer day, you dump ice cubes into your glass of soft drink. Accidentally
one ice cube fell into your glass table and you observed that it is slowly melting.
You wondered how you could make them melt more slowly or faster.
What melts ice the fastest?
Hypothesis:
Materials:
4 ice cubes (same size and shape)
4 drinking glasses (same size and shape)
Teaspoon
½ tsp table salt
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp sand
Watch /clock/timer
Procedure:
1. Prepare all the materials.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Note: Add more numbers if necessary.
Draw and label the set-up.
