What are the qualities of school managers and the requirements for their positions? How are they evaluated? (30 points) Answer: The qualities of school managers are dedicated, hardworking, transparent, motivator , law abiding and has the leadership skills. They are appointed as school managers based on their educational attainment, experiences and work achievements. They are being evaluated through observation on how far their educational development and accomplishments by means of using OPCRF and improvements of both teachers and learners. 2. What are the problems of management appraisal and what should be measured? How are traditional and non-traditional ways of appraising managers compared? What’s been your experience with performance appraisals – either as an employee receiving feedback or as a supervisor giving feedback? (50 points) Answer: The problems of management appraisal mostly is for not being transparent to the employees (unequal judgement) and mismatching of appointed job description. In traditional ways of appraising a manager it is based on personal qualities/traits like knowledge, capacity, judgment, initiative, attitude, loyalty, leadership, judgment while in non-traditional way it place more emphasis on the evaluation of work results, and job achievements. Nowadays, in appraising someone, traits like being a good employee whose always abiding the rules and regulations of schools and paying respect to elderly colleagues is no longer given any credit hence there focusing on the achievement, popularity thru skills and KOMPADRE system ( where the employee is related to a higher officials) 3. How do you determine the objectives, coverage and scope, and roles of EMIS in administrative management? What are the information needed for planning and decision-making? (30 points) Answer: EMIS is defined as an organized group of information and documentation services that collects, stores processes, analyzes and disseminates information for educational planning and management. Therefore, it is determined through providing timely and relevant educational services which can be used in the monitoring and evaluating of educational system. In planning and decision-making, we need to gather the needed data and the persons concern in order to have a successful outcome. 4. How important is leadership? How do you compare leadership and management? What are the characteristics of effective leadership and its tasks? (30 points) Answer: Leadership is very much important. In a management, leadership is the key to success, it depends on the leader on how he drives the entire team. In leaderships meaning you have followers whom you tends to ask questions, whom your sharing ideas and for them you are an example, you are a hero, a creator of change while in management you have subordinates, where your exercising powers and telling them what to do. In order to have a effective leadership one Initiates action, motivates colleagues, provides love and guidance, creates confidence, builds work friendly-environment, and most especially a good listener.
