Influences on Mental and Emotional Health
Describe how your family can have a positive effect on your mental and emotional health.
Most of the time your family is always there to support you. For example, if you recently lost a loved one,
your family would be affected too, but instead of being in their own sadness, they would also try and lift
you up. At the same time they can sympathize with you and understand your pain. This is the cause for
many other things, for example, if you just went through a breakup or you are under a lot of stress from
school, they can help you out.
Peer Pressure
List three examples of positive and negative peer pressure.
Positive peer pressure
Negative peer pressure
Going to a fun festive when you didn't want to
Smoking
Going to hang out
Drinking
Do an extra credit assignment
Skipping School
Resisting Peer Pressure
Describe a situation where you have resisted peer pressure:
My friends were telling me to log onto a video game when I had an assignment due the next day, and I
resisted the peer pressure and finished my assignment on time before playing.
Social Networking
Describe a way social media could harm someone’s mental health:
Someone can be bullied online intentionally or unintentionally which can be harmful towards their mental
health. One example is if a person sent a picture of them to their friend telling them not to show anyone
else. That friend then showed it to their friend and like that, that image was spread to every kid in his or
her school. The fact that everyone in the school has seen that picture could harm his or her mental health.
Cyberbullying
Give examples of how to stop cyberbullying.
Action
How you would do this
Save evidence of
cyberbullying.
Screenshotting the image
Report threats of harm.
On most social media sites or apps there is usually a way to report a
user. This can be used to stop them.
Be relentless.
You can continuous tell them to stop or telling them how you feel in
case it is unintentional
Block communications.
On most social media sites or apps there is usually a way to block
someone. You can use this feature if needed.
List what you would do if none of the ways to stop cyberbullying from above worked. What would you do
next?
If someone being cyberbullied, tell their school administration, their online service providers, mentor, law
enforcement, etc. I would contact someone who can help me settle the situation. If you cant do it by
yourself the next best thing would be to get help with someone.
