To learn about our software and services, please contact us. Installation and Licensing: Overview Regardless of whether you have a floating or fixed license, you need to install the software first. After the software is installed, you can then connect your license: • • Fixed license: make your license request to Capvidia Floating license: connect your installation to your floating license server This document contains detailed instructions related to the installation and licensing of MBDVidia. Modern, high-performance CPU 16 GB of RAM or more Dedicated graphics card Operating Systems: Windows® 10, Windows® 8, 64-bit editions For MBDVidia Pro S (using Spatial translators) only: Processor must have support for Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX). Most modern processors support this. To find out if yours does, look up your processor on the manufacturers website and it has the AVX instruction set extensions. Preparing for your Install 1. Administrative rights and Anti-virus applications Installation of MBDVidia requires administrative access to your PC, which is normally provided by your IT department. Be sure you can configure your anti-virus applications (if any active) to allow MBDVidia installation. 2. Uninstall previous version If you already have MBDVidia installed on your computer, uninstall it before going to the next step. Standard Installation To install MBDVidia, run “MBDVidia_64bit_X_X_XXXXXX.exe". Walk through the steps of the installation wizard. When the installation is completed, you must launch the software to begin the licensing process. Silent installation A silent installation is not the typical recommended way to install the software, but it is useful when deploying a large number of installations. Confidential and proprietary You can run a silent install from the command line. For example, use this syntax to silently install MBDVidia: MBDVidia_64bit_X_X_XXXXXX.exe /s "/p=d:\MyDirectory\MBDVidia x64 Edition” Where “d:\MyDirectory\MBDVidia x64 Edition” is the installation directory for the software Confidential and proprietary Licensing Guide Requesting a License – New Installations Follow these steps to request a license key for MBDVidia. If this is the first time you open your software, the license dialog will appear automatically. On the registration form, fill out your Name and Company, and press the Request Key button. An email will automatically be drafted with your default email client. Don’t forget to send it! Did your license request email not get sent? If your email didn’t get sent to Capvidia, you can just send it to us manually. Copy and paste the following information in an email to support@capvidia.com: • • • Confidential and proprietary Name Company Hardware ID Requesting a License – Expired Maintenance or Expired License If you have upgraded MBDVidia and you get one of these messages, then you will need to contact Capvidia for a new license key. Software maintenance expired License expired (software trial or subscription) If one of these messages appears, then you will need to request a new license. When you press “OK”, the registration dialog will appear. Here’s what you do next: 1 Delete the expired license key. Delete all the text in the box found on the right. This will activate the “Request Key” button. Confidential and proprietary Press the “Request Key” button to compose an email 2 to support@capvidia.com with the necessary license information. Don’t forget to send the email! Confidential and proprietary Activating the License for your Software Step 1: Open the license registration window Does your software currently have an active license? I DO NOT have an active license Just launch MBDVidia. You will see this dialog appear automatically: My license is active You can load the registration dialog seen on the left by selecting the “Change License” item in the help menu: Step 2: Enter your license info First, select “Standalone” or “Floating License”, depending on the type of license configuration you have. Next, you need to enter your licensing info. This step will depend on if you have a standalone license or if you are connecting to a floating license server. Standalone Enter the following information from your license key: • Name • Company • License Key Confidential and proprietary Floating Enter the License Server URL in the License Server field. Confidential and proprietary Troubleshooting Standalone License You might get an error message like one of these: First, check the Name, Company, Hardware ID, and License Key that you entered. Make sure that they are all entered correctly, including whitespace. Also, keep in mind that if you don’t enter your license key within 10 days, the license key will expire, and you will need to request a new key. Floating License If the Capvidia License Server is not running or the client cannot access it, you will get this message. You should make sure that the license server is installed and running before you try to connect to it. If you continue to have issues with the license server, see the Capvidia License Server Installation guide to troubleshoot. Floating Licenses – Advanced The information about the server connection is stored in a file called 3dv_server.ini in the AppData Roaming folder, as seen below: This file contains the name of the license server. Confidential and proprietary Tip: If you are installing a large number of clients, you can just copy this file onto each target computer. Confidential and proprietary Checking your License To check or verify that you have a license with the correct options, select the “License Info” item in the help menu: This will open the License Information dialog. Note: if you are using a floating license and your client can’t connect to the server, you won’t be able to see your license info! Confidential and proprietary Transferring a Standalone License Follow these instructions to transfer a standalone license from one computer to another. This process is carried out with the help of Capvidia support. 1 Select “Transfer License” from the help menu. 2 Select the product that you wish to transfer. 3 (Optional) Select “Uninstall the selected software”, if desired. Click OK. This will compose an email to support@capvidia.com with the license transfer data. Make sure that this email gets sent! 4 Install the software on the other computer, and follow the steps in this guide to request a license on a new installation. 5 Confidential and proprietary
