According to competency based curriculum (CBC) system of education in Kenya is aided with use of technology in teaching and learning.In most schools majority of the teachers lack information communication and technology (ICT) skills which is opposed to what CBC required among teachers in school. Competency based curriculum is more skill oriented and it brings about the use of technology in teaching and learning which is most criticised by most teachers due to lack of skills on use of technology which hinders proper delivery of content required to learners. The implemented CBC which brought about the use of technology in teaching and learning is affecting most teachers without skills on use of information communication and technology skills in teaching. Most schools in Kenya have teachers who have knowledge and teaching skills according to old system of education (8-4-4) and hence they lack competency skills on CBC system. From the recent and what is going on in most schools is that teachers are being forced to teach with the new curriculum even though they don't have knowledge about it which brought about criticism on CBC as learners are taught what even teachers are not competent on it. According to implemented curriculum of CBC shows that teachers are required to seek for training fast from training institutions on what they are required to know about CBC and this is seen to be waste of time to teachers. Competency based curriculum (CBC) is criticised for not considering teachers who are to teach using this new curriculum as most teachers in Kenya were trained with old curriculum of 8-4-4 system. The new system of education (CBC) is more focused on skill oriented and with it this make learners to be more creative and critical thinkers who are able to handle the work more easily with more dependent on their teachers on what they are required to do.In most schools learners who are taught with CBC system of education are able to read and able to handle questions without choices unlike in old system where a learner in grade 3 is not able to read on what they have been taught . With this state of creative among learners has been applause by most people since learners are able to learn on their own without much dependent on their teachers which discourages laziness among learners. Conclusion Despite the new implemented curriculum of CBC system in Kenya, most of activities brought about by this new curriculum has been criticized by most people as discussed above. However, this new curriculum would take long time to pick up or realized the success since most people have criticism on the same even though there activities brought by CBC which have been applause by some people in education sector.
