Master’s Thesis Business plan development for new metallic materials for additive manufacturing PROBLEM STATEMENT/GOAL OF THE THESIS: Additive manufacturing of metal components is currently one of the most vibrant topics in the market. Innovations and mile steps are being announced every day. New and smart powders are among the hottest key topics enabling the further development of this branch. A recently (@TUGraz) developed material-modification method enables extended freedom of design by allowing to print unsupported internal channels and unsupported leaned surfaces. It also reduces the costs of production by as much as 20%. Launching an innovative product on the market requires a detailed business plan aligned to the surrounding market environment. Therefore, by selecting this topic for your Master Thesis, you will: • work on the real-life case with real-life data • be part of an entrepreneurial project team • have real influence on decisions in the ongoing R&D project TASKS: • • • • Detailed description of important market stakeholders (customers, suppliers, competitors, …) for metal powder based on 3D printing Analysis of the business ecosystem of 3D printing Elaborating a business plan for metal powder in 3D printing Writing the Master´s Thesis INFORMATION: Requirements: • Motivation and personal interest in additive manufacturing • Highly self-initiated style of work • Basic knowledge in materials science Field of study: preferred WirtschaftsingenieurwesenMaschinenbau, Production Science and Management Start: Immediately Duration: 5-6 months Supervisor: Elisabeth Poandl and Stefan Vorbach Further Information: elisabeth.poandl@tugraz.at
