Describe how legislation may be applicable to workplace problems (provide an example as
part of your answer).
The legislation aims to ensure that employers and workers are aware of each other’s
responsibilities and protect the well-being of employees. Legislation protects employees
from discrimination or unhealthy work environments. An example can be the Fair Works Act
of 2009. This legislation was mainly introduced to reform the industrial relations system in
Australia. It ensures that employees in an organization are protected against discrimination,
racism, harassment and are treated fairly in lieu with their employment rights.

3.
Describe how organisational policies and procedures may be applicable to workplace
problems (provide an example as part of your answer).
Policies and procedures provide employees with a decent amount of understanding towards
expected behavioural and performance standards while providing rules and guidelines for
decision making when facing problems. They also help in keeping the company on track to
do their mission to gain their vision. An example can be a recruitment policy in a company.
A potential employee can sign an employment agreement, but a company’s policies and
procedure can allow them to terminate that potential employee’s contract if their
background checks do not come clear. This written policy protects the company from any
legal action too.
