Energy Transformation
Energy transformation is the change of energy from one form to another. Another name for
energy transformation is energy conversion.
Energy comes in different forms like light, sound, mechanical, chemical, kinetic, nuclear, heat
and electrical. When the energy changes form it is called transformation.
Natural energy transformation is energy changing
form in nature, for example when lightning strikes a
tree, electrical energy is converted to thermal energy.
Another example is when plants convert light energy
to chemical energy through photosynthesis.
Engineered energy transformation is any humanly
constructed invention that has been designed to change
energy into usable forms, for example when solar panels
convert light energy into electrical energy or when
electrical energy is converted to light energy when a
light is switched on.

• Chemical energy transformation examples are when we put fuel in our cars to
make them drive or the food we put into our bodies in order to be active.
• Kinetic energy transformation examples are a battery that provides mechanical energy.
• Electricity energy transformation examples are when the electricity
enters into a light bulb and converts to light and heat.
• Electrical energy can be converted to mechanical and sound energy in a blender.
• Electrical energy is converted to sound energy when it is
used to power a loudspeaker or microphone.
