ENTERTAINMENT SPEECH

DREAMS DO LIE
I'd like to make you smile before I start making you laugh. Have a nice day, everyone.
"Wow, I'm still alive," I thought when I awoke this morning. I can't believe I'm standing here in
front of you all, and I can't believe a minute of words can wreck someone's life. I've been thinking
about how to entertain you for the past few weeks, day and night. I typed a phrase, deleted it,
thought of another, then deleted it again. I looked up how to construct on the internet and watched
movies for examples, but it's still difficult to come up with one. Then, out of nowhere, a thought
came to me. Dreams!!! Dreams can be characterized as our aims or ambitions, as well as the
thoughts or stories that our minds produce while we are sleeping. At different times, we have joyful
dreams and terrible dreams or nightmares. Even when they are sleeping, dreams have the power
to compel others to behave. But you know what? Dreams are lies.
I was watching a movie about fathers' love one night and sobbed uncontrollably because
I'm far away from home and miss my father. To give you all some context, I am the daughter who
prefers her father to her mother. So, after watching, I went to bed crying, still thinking about my
father. Perhaps I dreamed of my father as a result of my overthinking, and the dream was so terrible
that I woke up crying. Seeing my loving parents die in my dream is the most agonizing scenario
I've ever experienced. That story crushed my heart, and I'd cry all over again whenever I thought
about it. To cheer myself up, I would constantly recall what my cousin had told me: seeing
someone die in a dream implies they will live longer. As a result, whenever I have dreams like
that, I usually try to cheer myself up.
If it wasn't enough to persuade you that dreams are lies and you should never be carried
away, I'll tell you about another event. Let me first ask you a question before I tell you what it is.
Do you know how it feels to be short on cash and suddenly come across a bag of golden coins?
Overjoyed right? I awoke one morning feeling overjoyed, lucky, hopeful, and excited because I
knew I had enough money. I’m able to purchase everything I desire. I own a car, a house, and a
lot. I can use my money to fly to other places and never be impoverished again. That happiness,
however, did not last. After a few seconds, I'm ready to cry my eyes out. I felt disappointed and
unhappy, and I wanted to go back to sleep and not wake up. It was only a dream, I realized. It was
not true that I had golden coins or that I was wealthy. I was hit with the harsh realization that such
a thing does not exist. My entire day was wrecked due to that dream, and I’m not in the mood to
accomplish anything anymore. It just gave me false hope.
See? In the end, they weren’t true at all. It didn’t really happen, and yet it made us think
that it had happened. Some people go for a walk in the dead of night, while others sit talking,
weeping, laughing, and peeing themselves. Dreams make us look and act like fools, so don’t ever
believe in them because they can promise you your crushes who can never be yours and I don’t
think that is good for you.
