Research Topic: Health and disease
Topic issue: COVID-19 has spread rapidly and caused many deaths globally.
Research Question: Can COVID-19 be eradicated in Asia?
As we know in 2019 virus called COVID-19 spread out and caused many deaths globally. I chose
this topic because I’m interested in diseases and want to research about it. The COVID-19
(Jimmy Wales, 2022) also known as the coronavirus, is a virus that spread out in 2019, caused
by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Many early cases were
linked to people who had visited the Huanan Sea foo Wholesale Market there, but it is possible
that human-to-human transmission began earlier. Attempts to prevent it from spread failed.
The WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020 and
a pandemic on 11 March 2020. As of 23 May 2022, the pandemic had caused around
525 million cases and 6.27 million confirmed deaths.
COVID-19 symptoms are most commonly include fever, dry cough, and fatigue (MFMER,
2022). COVID-19 transmits when people breathe in air contaminated by droplets and
small airborne particles containing the virus. The risk of breathing these in is highest when people
are in close proximity, but they can be inhaled over longer distances, particularly indoors (Anon.,
2022). Although COVID-19 is seen as a disease that primarily affects the lungs, it can also damage
many other organs, including the heart, kidneys and the brain. Organ damage may lead to health
complications that linger after COVID-19 illness. In some people, lasting health effects may
include long-term breathing problems, heart complications, chronic kidney impairment, stroke
and Guillain-Barre syndrome — condition that causes temporary paralysis (Jimmy Wales, 2022).
Many countries in Asia attempted to slow or stop the spread of COVID-19 by
recommending, mandating or prohibiting behavior changes. Outbreak control strategies are
divided into elimination and mitigation (Assessment, 2020). China opted for containment,
inflicting strict lockdowns to eliminate spread. The vaccines distributed in China included
the BIBP, WIBP, and CoronaVac. COVID-19 was confirmed in South Korea on 20 January 2020.
Military bases were quarantined after tests showed three infected soldiers. The Iranian
Parliament closed, after 23 of its 290 members tested positive on 3 March 2020. This was
responses of Asia.
COVID-19 was one of the deadliest viruses of all time. It has killed a lot of people, but
people could find the cure of it. In my research I found a lot about COVID-19 and developed some
skills, like citing sources properly. And I’m glad that I had this topic. It was fun to write essay about
such a topic.
Reflection
What did I accomplish? I learned about citing sources in a Harvard citation style. And adding intext citing.
What is important about what I did? Firstly, I finished the project and I hope I will get high
marks. And the style of me adding sources. I learned adding citation in MS Word.
Where I could use this again? Now I know how to add references in word. I can use this citation
style on other essays. And I will have no problem adding sources.
Are there patterns in my work? In my behavior? No answer:\
How well did I do? What could be done differently? I didn’t add much about the response of
Asia against COVID-19, and it was my main topic. I did a lot about explaining the COVID-19.
How can I use this knowledge in my future work? I can give COVID-19 as example of virus and
the response of Asia against it.
