“Words have incredible power. They can make people’s hearts soar, or they can make people’s hearts sore.
by Dr. Mardy Grothe.
Generally, for presentation, we give lots of effort to deliver a great speech. Like, we have to research a particular
topic for making a presentation. A skillful presenter has different kinds of skills, here some of them:
1. Believe in what he says: In presentation believe in the speaker’s own self words is the key for persuading and
much response from the audience. If the presenter doesn’t have believed in his words,
how does the audience will believe?
2. Confident: A presenter has confidence over his speaking ability and personality. So, he has no sign of
nervousness in his speaking. He always loves to present himself in front of the audience.
3. Positive energy: He deals with positive energy during the presentation. He has become calm and relaxed while
giving a presentation. Before beginning, wait and develop eye contact with
the audience. He has focused on conveying his message well and uses positive body language.
4. Well organized and panned: A good presentation must be planned. The speaker must
plan how to begin the presentation, what to speak in the middle of the presentation, and
how to end the presentation without losing the audience's interest at any point in time.
5. Practice: Practice makes the man perfect. Rehearse and practices are the part and parcel of
any kind of presentation. This will help the speaker to be more confident and selfassured. The more the speaker rehearses the better the presentation turns to be.
6. Maintaining Eye contact: Every good presenter knows how to maintain eye contact with the audience.
These facts are most important for strong academic life. If we want to build strong academic
life, we have to gain presentation skills. First of all, if we produce the wrong information with our teachers and
classmates, they will judge it. That is why authentic information and believing in ourselves are important for
any kind of communication. Secondly, everyone likes a confident person. We get the proper response
and appreciation from teachers if we are confident enough in academic activities.
Thirdly, if we are dealing with positive energy and good eye contact with our fellow mates our academic life will
be better than better. For example, if we are talking to someone without making proper eye contact he definitely
gets disturbed by it and he won’t want to communicate with us
again. Moreover, we do research and practice for presentation and go through the depth of knowledge and build aca
demic life stronger by achieving good results.
When I have started my academic life at Bangladesh University, I didn’t have the words to express
myself. Because I was so nervous about speaking to someone
and I had less knowledge about presentation. Day by day I do well in presentations and
now I can make communicate with my teachers and friends and I do well in exams too.
Here are the ways I follow to overcome fear and nervousness during any kinds of presentation:
1. Get Organized
2. Practice and Prepare Extensively
3. Eliminate Fear Of Rejection
4. Focus on gesture and posture
5. Long Breath
6. Practice in front of the mirror
7. Lightly Exercise Before Speaking
8. I do focus on the Material, not the Audience
9. Visualize my success
Those topics I am trying to follow during the presentation and in the last couple of presentations, I got good marks
by following these ways.
