CHAPTER I PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Project Context Inspired by the rapid development of technology, computer technology correlates with information technology and is used for study of computers, networks, computer networks, etc. It encompasses a developing list of different software programs and devices. It includes programming, networking, database design and development to ensure that computers work properly. The development of a software program that allows people to accomplish work at home which has been automatically assigned from computers at their job location is an example of computer technology. For an institution, Inventory System serves as an effective way for monitoring and tracking materials that are transferred in and out of a company’s establishment usually for accounting purpose. To monitor all the transactions and movement of equipment, tools, and materials in order to keep an account of all their stocks. Inventory System is important for an institution. However, in some establishments, the Inventory of materials is done manually in such a way that an employee writes down the information of different materials every time it is transferred in and out of the room. As a result, Inventory System becomes prone to human error and world be more time consuming which will most likely be a loss for the company. This project aims to cover many needs, including valuing the inventory, measuring the change in Inventory and planning for future inventory. 2 Purpose and Description The study provides greater understanding and knowledge regarding the efficacy of the Automated Inventory System of Rizal College of Taal - Senior High School Department. This study would be beneficial to the following: For the school, this will help to easily monitor the commodities and to manage counting and record-keeping. For the department, this will surely be best system especially for the teachers if ever they want to find inventory easily without consuming a lot of time. Future researchers, students who want to have a study about designing a system may find this research very useful because through this, they can gather enough information in making their own system. Statement of the Problem The researcher focused their study on the development of a system that will greatly improve the inventory system of Rizal College of Taal. In due connection with this, they aimed for clearer understanding of these questions: 1. What are the problems encountered by the existing Inventory System of Rizal College of Taal? 2. How will an automated Inventory System eliminate tedious and minimize job of Rizal College of Taal staff? 3 3. How to test the efficiency of the system in terms of: - Accuracy - Functionality - Usability Objective of the Study - To identify the problems encountered by the existing Inventory System of Rizal College of Taal. - To design and create an Automated Inventory System to eliminate tedious and minimize job of Rizal College of Taal staff. - To determine and test the efficiency of the system in terms of: - Accuracy - Functionality - Usability Scope and Delimitations The project focuses mainly on developing an Automated Inventory System of Rizal College of Taal – Senior High School Department, by means of having an Automated Inventory System, it can cover many needs, including valuing the inventory, updating the changes in the inventory and planning for future inventory. The automated inventory 4 system will improve work efficiency by automating routinely and time consuming tasks such as the time spent in taking down equipment information. The project is delimitated because this system is not online and it can’t produce hard copy, this system used for verification and update only.
