RAN Analyzer TS
summary of features
ERA troubleshooting can be used:
› To detect the root cause of a problem
by checking the OSS Alarms, which
show nodes hardware problems. Delta
checks to analyze the network
evolution. And Parameter Consistency
Checks and User Alarms to detect
parameters not aligned with a set of
custom values.
› KPI reports showing Worst Offenders.
› Network configuration reports with a
historical tracking and distribution of
configuration values of the network.
› Swapped sectors; so harmful to the
performance of a mobile network, that
planning and optimization of those
sectors could be useless or even
pernicious to the network performance.
© Ericsson AB 2016 | ERA environment | LZU1089600 R1A | 2016-01-01
RAN Analyzer TS
summary of features
ERA provides analysis capabilities:
› KPI reporting on charts and graphs.
› KPIs historical trend and values.
› KPIs can be aggregated on different
time levels like hourly, daily, weekly
…etc.
› In case the proper input was available,
Propagation Related KPIs can be
checked as well.
› Time evolution performance can be
evaluated on the Performance Delta
Reports.
› Ericsson RAN Analyzer is also able to
display the correlation between two
different KPIs on a single chart.
© Ericsson AB 2016 | ERA environment | LZU1089600 R1A | 2016-01-01
RAN Analyzer Geo
summary of features
› Using TPS, traces are processed to
generate geo-located data:
– Number of Termination Events
shows where do Soft Handovers or
Drops occur.
– Radio Frequency related plots.
– User throughput plots.
– Virtual drive maps are generated
for single cells.
– Traffic maps with the specific kind
of traffic handled in a certain area.
› The Drill down troubleshooting
functionality allows us to track each of
the messages of a certain call and
display them on the map.
› Geo-located events visualization
related to the traces can be also done.
© Ericsson AB 2016 | ERA environment | LZU1089600 R1A | 2016-01-01
RAN Analyzer Geo
summary of features
Some traces output reports are:
› The analysis of the calls in chart and
table views, aggregating by traffic class,
UE type… among others.
› Statistical analysis restricted to only the
problematic calls (block calls, drop calls,
etc.).
› User throughput as part of the call
analysis.
› Top N IMSIs or top N cells which are
facing the main problems.
› Smartphone Audit basically showing the
performance depending on the model of
the users´ devices (IMEI).
› VIP tracing of an IMSI or IMEI to show
the information of a specific user. All the
calls considered for getting the statistics,
either they are problematic or not.
© Ericsson AB 2016 | ERA environment | LZU1089600 R1A | 2016-01-01
RAN Analyzer CA
summary of features
› Geographic information system (GIS):
displaying on a map the sectors along
with PM and traces information.
› The scheduler where automatic tasks
can be set is integrated.
› Input data validator which reports
possible missing data in the input files.
› Possibility to create and modify custom
groups of sectors, removing from the
analysis ...
› Query Builder to create custom reports
by directly querying the project
database.

Administrator Portal
interactions
› Administrator Portal vs. TPS:
– OSS Task Manager manages both services.
– Both services listen to the 8080 port, OSS can
co-exist with a TPS because Administrator Portal
of ODG runs over a different Tomcat 6.0 and is
hosted in a different port (80).setup.
– Stop TPS to run Administrator Portal and vice versa.
› SKYPE vs. Administrator Portal:
– If Skype usually uses the same port
than Administrator Portal.
– Change the port used by Skype or
close it.
© Ericsson AB 2016 | ERA environment | LZU1089600 R1A | 2016-01-01
Administrator Portal
interactions
› Also other software (e.g. Teamviewer) can interfere in port
configuration with Administrator Portal.
› To modify the port used by Administrator portal instead of changing
every other application configuration, edit the file:
<Installation Folder>Ericsson\Administrator Portal\Tomcat 6.0\conf\server.xml
› Note that to access to Administrator Portal if the port is different from
the default one, the following url has to be used:

set of intelligent analysis, pointing out detected problems as
well as symptoms for upcoming problems.
– Deep automatic investigation to find out the most likely root
causes.
– It suggest recommended instructions to cure problems.
– Considers topology, CM, PM, alarms and call traces.
– It allows the configuration of the Trace Processing Server,
and the aggregation of KPIs and maps from existing
processed measurement periods in such a way that geolocated information becomes available.

INSTALLATION
Trace Processing SERVER
› Select the TPS temporal location folder (leave as per default).
› Select the number of processes to be considered by TPS for
parallelization. It is recommended not to modify the value the installer
proposes, that is the total number of processors the machine has
minus one.

INSTALLATION
Trace Processing SERVER
› You may be prompted by Windows Firewall that an
application named as memcached Server is trying to
access the network. This is a third party software used by
TPS to help the importation of the network events, so it is
required to be enabled.

INSTALLATION
Trace Processing SERVER
› After installation, the SW is unlicensed. In order to get a
valid license it is required to provide the fingerprint of the
computer that can be located in the file:
– C:\Program Files\Ericsson\Trace Processing Server\xGeoManager
Processor\bin\LicenseRequestInstructions.txt
› To request the license:
-
http://toolsportal.internal.ericsson.com/adp_portal/order/order.html
› Based on this fingerprint a license file (Trace Processing
Server-xxxxxxxxx.lic) will be received and located usually
under:
– C:\Program Files\Ericsson\Trace Processing Server\xGeoManager
Processor\bin
