This is an introduction to soil and rock identification and classification. the topic an introduction to the terminology, techniques and concepts involved, so that they can move forward in applying this information to engineering projects in their professional activities. Soil classification is a means of organizing knowledge about soils. It is common to use hierarchical schemes because there are many soils and they have numerous physical, chemical, and biological properties. Problem statement This project discusses all type of problems related to soil in different region of Pakistan which is necessary for construction projects. It is very difficult of accurately predict the soil behavior at a construction site completely. In this project mainly discuss the tool and technique use to predict the soil characteristics and behavior more accurately. Due to very discontinuous behavior of soil, it is very important to take protentional technique to increase safety for construction project without any disturbance. Research Questions The present study aims to answers of the following questions 1.what are the common problems in soil classification and identification in Pakistan? 2. does it affect the project schedule, cost and project cycle? 3.does study and investigation of soil classification and identification itself is problem? Research Objectives The aim of the study is brief investigation of soil behavior of different regions of Pakistan and method, tools and technique to increase the productivity and safety for all type of substructure and foundations also propose a method to reduce the problems related to soil. 2 Department of civil engineering technology (PTUT, Lahore) Contribution of the Study Soil is a very important to all type of construction project as we see in past years the failure of different project in different countries due to improper investigation of soil. This study gives a possible technique to reduce the complection. This study also discusses the most common problems and project failure over all the world. Plan of the Study The project will be carried out in usual manner of study/analysis of the problem statement to set the direction of research for the implementation phase. The work schedule will be followed in a given below pattern.
