Al Riwaq is a space that’s been dedicated to platforming art in all its forms since 1998. We believe art embodies such an innumerable variety of forms and is a means of communicating ideas, cultures, crafts and practices that help perpetuate expression. As such we want to share with you this month’s selection of events, workshops and exhibitions from a diversity of creators and artists. Regards, Al Riwaq Art Space Artist Blurb Waheeda Malullah has applied her vision across a variety of forms from videography and photos to set pieces and performances. Born in 1978 and a resident of Bahrain, her art places the lifestyle of Islamic women under examination. Analyzing cultural practices and faith, Waheeda’s work spans a timeline of exhibitions and events hosted across the world including from Spain to China, London to Morocco and more. Recipient of the Golden Pyramid Prize in 2009, Waheeda’s upcoming group exhibition in 2023’s Sharjah Biennial will have her reexamine the roles and practices of contemporary Islamic women.
