Many critics see Lady Macbeth as a stereotyped symbol of evil;
others cite her human qualities as proof that Shakespeare meant
her to be a multifaceted character. Defend either interpretation.
2.
Even though the witches’ prophecies seem to negate Macbeth’s
free will, there seem to be instances of Macbeth willfully choosing
evil over good. Discuss whether or not Macbeth was the ‘puppet’
of the witches or his own man.
3.
As with any Shakespearean play, Macbeth is partly developed
through the use of skillful imagery. Images of blood, darkness,
and animals are used throughout the entire play. Choose ONE
type of imagery and discuss how it develops character, theme,
and tone, etc.
