BTC240: PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT AND ACTION PLAN ASSIGNMENT
PROFESSOR MATTHEWS
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Begin by reading Chapters 1 and 2 of your textbook.
2. Do the Self-Assessment Quiz 1-1 - “WHAT ARE YOUR DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS”
- which you will find in chapter 1 of your textbook (page 11 of the 4th edition). It is
useful, if possible, to compare your results with the assessment of people who know you
well. This can be a difficult thing to do, but well worthwhile.
3. Choose the one specific behaviour of yours that you feel requires the greatest degree of
change. Next, following the MODEL FOR IMPROVING INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
found in chapter 1 of your textbook (pages 5-8 of the 4th edition), write an action plan for
changing the behaviour you have identified. Closely follow the instructions in your
textbook. Put thought into your action plan. Write well, using complete sentences and
paragraphs.
4. You will need to read ahead to various chapters in your textbook, depending on what
personal DEVELOPMENTAL NEED you identify. You will need to read ahead so that
you can apply ideas from your textbook to your ACTION PLAN. For example, if you
recognise that your “attempts to lead others have failed” and you decide that fixing this
problem is your most important developmental need, then you will need to closely read
chapter 10, “Becoming an Effective Leader” and use the teachings in that chapter as the
basis for writing your MODEL FOR IMPROVING INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. We are
looking for action plans that utilize tools and information provided in your textbook.
