(4 POINTS) Carolyn Hax Who would many young people go to these days for advice on a personal problem? The answer is Carolyn Hax. Ms. Hax, a graduate of Harvard University, has been writing practical, funny advice for The Washington Post since 1999. Ms. Hax’s advice is unusual because she doesn’t tell her readers what she would do to solve a problem. Instead, she offers her readers new ways to think about their problems. Once readers see the problem from a different angle, they can usually find a solution that works best for them. When Ms. Hax first began, she wrote one column a week. She now writes three original columns a week. And because there is such a demand from readers for a daily column, Ms. Hax has four other columns that are adapted from a weekly discussion group that she hosts on washingtonpost.com. These discussions often last over two hours and give her readers the opportunity to get in-depth, real-time advice. Ms. Hax’s advice column now runs in over 200 newspapers in the United States, and is edited and illustrated by her ex-husband Nick Galifianakis. In addition to being an advice columnist, Ms. Hax has written a book and is the mother to three boys. 1. Carolyn Hax’s advice 3.
