My networking skills improved as I had to reach out to various Job consultancies, Placement cells and communicate with altogether different kinds of employee from different regions. I learnt how to calmly, politely and patiently tackle anyone or any problem. I understood about the right kind of attitude required to do the Job efficiently. Wide geographic presence - Persistent Systems has extensive dealer network and associates’ network that not only help in delivering efficient services to the customers but also help in managing competitive challenges in Software & Programming industry. High turnover of employees at the lower levels is also a concern for the Persistent Systems Loyalty among suppliers is low - Given the history of Persistent Systems coming up with new innovations to drive down prices in the supply chain. High cost of replacing existing experts within the Persistent Systems. Opportunities Threats Customer preferences are fast changing - Driven by rising disposable incomes, easy access to information, and fast adoption of technological products, customers today are more willing to experiment / try new products in the market Changing political environment with US and China trade war, Brexit impacting European Union, and overall instability in the middle east can impact Persistent Systems business both in local market and in international market. Opportunities in Online Space Increasing adoption of online services by customers will also enable Persistent Systems to provide new offerings to the customers in Software & Programming industry. Increasing government regulations are making it difficult for un-organized players to operate in the Software & Programming industry. Gross Margins and Operating Margins which could be improved and going forward may put pressure on the Persistent Systems financial statement. Low investments into Persistent Systems’ customer oriented services This can lead to competitors gaining advantage in near future. Competitive pressures - As the new product launch cycles are reducing in the Technology industry. It has put additional competitive pressures on players such as Persistent Systems. Distrust of institutions and increasing threat of legal actions for Persistent Systems - As the WTO regulations and laws are difficult to enforce in various markets. Increasing government regulations are making it difficult for un-organized players to operate in the Software & Programming industry. Trade Relation between US and China can affect Persistent Systems growth plans - This can lead to full scale trade war which can hamper the potential of Persistent Systems to expand operations in China. Industry Analysis (Using Porter’s five forces) Threat of New Entrant – The Threat of new entrant in the space where persistent systems is leading is very high as the world is shifting mor towards tech based solutions day by day. There are a lot of startups as well as MNC’S which are developing in the same space and can prove a threat to Persistent Systems. Suppliers Bargaining Power – Suppliers in this case shall be the pool of candidates that make the market. They have lower bargaining power as many there are a lot of experienced candidates across all the domains. Thus, there are multiple suppliers in this domain and bargaining power of the suppliers is relatively low. Threat of Substitute – There is relatively low threat to substitute in this domain as we need experienced candidates for the technical roles which is not easy and there are a lot of criteria that a candidate needs to meet before he/she is hired for the requirements. Customer’s Bargaining Power – The customer’s bargaining power is high when it comes to the industry in which the company is operating since there are a lot of capable and equally good companies out there for the same requirements for which the persistent is operating. Rivalry among existing competitors – Rivalry is among the higher side when we think of the space in which the company is working as there are equally good and competitive MNC’s in the market and we also have a lot of upcoming startups in the market which can compete against Persistent Systems. Summary of Analysis – Forces Threat of New Entrant Suppliers Bargaining Power Threat of Substitute Customer’s Bargaining Power Rivalry among existing competitors Strength High Low low High High Tasks/ Targets SetThe Tasks assigned to me in the duration of the Internship include Working closely on requirements of 4 business units of Persistent Systems, which include Life sciences and Healthcare (LSHC), Integration practice (IP), Intelligent Business automation (IBA) and Intelligent Business Management (IBM). The tasks included Sourcing candidates through various job portals such as Naukri, Indeed, Monster and Linkedin. The sourced candidates were then sent to the Hiring managers for screening. After receiving the screening feedbacks of the candidate, the next step was to contact these candidates and set up the interviews of the candidates with the Hiring Manager. The Target was to source 10 candidates and schedule 10 interviews daily which I achieved through a strategy of continuous monitoring and taking feedbacks. This Target was also altered when I got the opportunity to draft offer for the selected candidates the new target was to draft at least 2 offers in a day. Them strategy used by me was to get as many candidates to get onboard so the we get more joiners and I can draft offers for the shortlisted candidates. Overview of the Project/Tasks done – The major Task of the Internship was Recruiting and Shortlisting the candidates suitable for Various Leadership roles in Persistent Systems’ technical teams. Shortlisting various candidates for various skills such as Java Architects, RPA Architects, cloud architects, Project managers for various skills as well as different business units etc. Thus, the major role was to shortlist the various candidates required for various requirements from various job portals such as Naukri, Indeed, put of posts on Linkedin Etc. Which were put to us by the leadership hiring teams, scheduling the interviews of these candidates with the technical teams and panel members and draft offer for onboarding the candidates. I screened various profiles for the candidates to know if they were suitable for our requirements. I then had to call these candidates to have a conversation about their past experiences and various details required by the panels. After the initial screening and discussions, our job was to put these profiles for screening to the technical teams. Once, these profiles were screened by the technical team, the next step was to schedule the interviews for the candidates and coordinate the interviews. There are usually 2 sets of interviews in Persistent systems. The first it the L1 interview, which is a complete technical discussion and the second one is the L2 discussion which is a mix of both technical as well as managerial discussion, both of which are followed by the HR discussion. I attended various HR discussions which gave me insights for how to close an employee though various factor. After completing the HR discussion, we had to draft offers of these employees and release offers to them. Offer drafting was a very new process for me as it there are a few technical things which are very important to take into account and no mistakes should be done while drafting the offer and one needs to be extremely careful while drafting it, I learnt various new concepts and corporate communication skills. Learnt the ways totackle situations and ways to deal with the employee’s and their queries. I also understood how to select he candidate as per requirements of the organization and learnt negotiation skills throughthis as well. Constrains / Limitations The basic limitations and constrains were felt during the sourcing and Scheduling the Interviews. For sourcing, the limitations were mostly related to experience and skills of the candidates. Since the skills in a particular programming language are very vast, it sometimes becomes very difficult in matching the skills of the candidate with that of the Job description for the requirements. While for Scheduling, the constraints are getting in contact with the candidates as well as to get panel slots for setting up the interviews. Business Objectives Objectives: 1. Sourcing minimum 10 Profiles asper requirement of the organization using various platforms like Naukri.com, LinkedIn, Indeed, Monster Etc. (Handling the Recruitment and Selection majorly). 2. Scheduling 10 Interviews with candidates and Panels. 3. Creating offers and rolling offers to the selected Candidates. Strategy 1. Sourcing - As to reach the Targets, I needed to daily screen 30 profiles to match the requirement we currently had and for that I used to screen the profiles through combination of various skills which made the task easier and I was able to complete the Target before time. 2. Scheduling - For scheduling the interviews, I used to arrange panel slots prior to shortlisting of the candidates so that as soon as I receive the shortlisting, I can schedule the interviews for the candidates. 3. For drafting at least 2 offers, I used to make sure all the interviews of the day are done on time so that there is no lag and I get at least 2 joiners per day for which the offers are to be drafted. Achievements 1. Successfully Hired 30 Candidates in the time period for 4 months in the leadership hiring teams. 2. Conduction of 2 HR successful rounds in the Month of April after the candidates cleared the Technical round.
