Perhaps most controversially, the Harvard political scientist Samuel Huntington predicted a global “clash
of civilizations,” pitting an American-led West against China and the Muslim world. (Gangsterpolitik:
New World Disorder)
Almost singlehandedly, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ended the postCold War Era by overseeing
a seemingly unthinkable action against a neighboring country. (Gangsterpolitik: New World Disorder)
In fact, even Europeans have come to recognize the growing threat posed by China. (Gangsterpolitik:

…that, in Italy, we wouldn’t enjoy the same conveniences we did in the Philippines: no more private
schools, no more school buses, and no more helpers. (Life in the Eternal City)
But while my move to Italy has been tumultuous and traumatic on numerous occasions, it has also
allowed me to experience what I wouldn’t otherwise. (Life in the Eternal City)
I told myself that I’d probably find him at the same stop the following day. But I never saw him again.

Each one of them taught me something and made me realize that although we may be divided by class,
race, religion, and sexuality, in the end, we all share suffering and mortality. (Life in the Eternal City)
“Importantly, infection-derived protection (natural immunity) was greater after the highly transmissible
Delta variant became predominant, coinciding with early declining of vaccine-induced immunity in many
persons,” the authors wrote. (The previously infected need not be vaccinated anymore)
Why still mandate that these COVID-19 survivors get vaccinated, when the data clearly show there’s no
meaningful incremental increase in immunity? (The previously infected need not be vaccinated
anymore)
This may well be a factor in why we have a coincidental increase in excess deaths due to heart attacks,
strokes and other causes during the period that we started rolling out the vaccine. Our health officials
should look into this more seriously before lives are unnecessarily compromised. (The previously
infected need not be vaccinated anymore)
“We are the only one in the country that offers wellness cuisine in that aspect. Food, for us, should be a
core component of our healing concept,” she said. (This eco-luxury wellness resort evolves—but stays
true to its essence)
The aim of your informative essay is not in giving your opinion, but to inform and educate
your audience on a topic given. Inform readers about some problem they are not aware.
Explain its importance. Present the latest research on a topic.
An informative essay educates your reader on a topic. They can have one of several functions: to define
a term, compare and contrast something, analyze data, or provide a how-to. They do not, however,
present an opinion or try to persuade your reader.
An analytical essay should generally talk about how the book was written, the theme it presents,
the metaphors it uses. It requires you to look at the smaller aspects of the text so that you can shed
some light on the bigger picture. So if you ended up summarizing, then you no longer have
analytical essay writing.
Analytical writing is evaluative and critical. It seeks to go beyond the descriptive presentation of facts or
details to the reader, and instead evaluates and investigates their significance. In other words, analytical
writing demonstrates the ‘why’, ‘how’, and ‘so what’, interpreting the significance and meaning of the
‘who’, ‘what’, and ‘where’.
Analytical essays require an intensive comprehension writing on a given subject, topic or
subtopic. Such kind of academic paper usually starts with understanding the topic under
discussion broadly and paying a lot of attention to the key aspects of it. Analytical essay writing
involves thorough consideration of information on the content matter of the topic which is
being discussed.
General technique of persuasive writing: Blends facts and emotion in attempt to convince the reader
that the writer is “right.”(Often relies heavily on opinion.)
Viewpoint used in persuasive writing: Persuasion has a single-minded goal. It is based on a personal
conviction that a particular way of thinking is the only sensible way to think. Writer presents one side—
his side.
Persuasive writers want to gain another “vote” so they “go after” readers more aggressively. Persuasive
writing is more personal, more passionate, more emotional.
General technique of argumentative writing: Offers the reader relevant reasons, credible facts, and
sufficient evidence to support that the writer has a valid and worthy perspective.
Viewpoint used in argumentative writing: Acknowledge that opposing views exist, not only to hint at
what a fair-minded person you are, but to give you the opportunity to counter these views tactfully in
order to show why you feel that your own view is the more worthy one to hold. Writer presents multiple
perspectives, although is clearly for one side.
