Trauma Case Scenario
M- A 22 year old construction worker fell approximately 35 feet (10.5 m)
from scaffolding. As he was falling onto a solid scrap heap, his helmet came
off.
I- He was rendered unconscious. Thighs are asymmetrical; left is greater in
circumference.
S- BP = 85/60 mm Hg, HR = 100 beats/min,RR = 24 breaths/min and he
responds to pressure stimuli only.
T- Oral airway, oxygen at 6 L/min via mask, semirigid c-collar, and spinal
motion restricted on a long spine board. A traction splint was applied to
the left lower extremity and one large caliber intravenous line was placed
and isotonic crystalloid is being infused.
