fungi are essential to the health of an ecosystem. They decompose old dead bodies, and create nutrients for plants to use. For example, if fungi were to disappear, dead bodies would start piling up, and plants would start dying. 4. Why should humans study fungi?
Since fungi are so important in ecosystems, humans need to learn more about what techniques they use to recycle dead matter. This could help us as humans preserve ecosystems, no matter what changes happen in the environment.
