PURPOSE
Water Ingress is carried out to verify the water ingress protection as per below
procedure for the WHCP enclosure. WHCP enclosure under test needs to withstand
a continuous splashing of water.

PRE – REQUISITE CONDITIONS
Before starting the actual water spray test; following points are checked for its
readiness
•
Clean water source with hose is available as per Water Ingress Protection.
•
Panel enclosure is completed for its 100% fabrication externally. All doors are closed.
All the auxiliary terminal plates such as bulkheads, cable gland entries to the enclosure
are blanked off.

TEST PROCEDURE
Since, the WHCP enclosure is seam welded all over, only ingress points are the doors
& on the bulkheads.
•
Opening which needs to be tested with splashing of water to verify entry of water
particles inside the panel.
•
Water is sprayed all over the Wellhead control panel by 12.5mm Dia Nozzle. Water
Flow rate shall be 100L/min, and Splashed water will be applied is for 1 min/m² at least
3 min.
•
Distance from nozzle to enclosure surface: 3 m.
•
Minimum test duration: 3 min
•
Once, water spraying is over doors are opened to verify entry of water particles inside
the WHCP enclosure.

Non evidence of water particles inside successfully concludes the water ingress test
of the WHCP enclosure.
Testing done as per above procedure & WHCP enclosure will be confirmed as having
successfully passed the test.
