OBJECTIVES:
This assignment covers all the materials taught in Chapter 1 (Basic to Engineering Statistics). The outcome for this
assignment includes: i. Able to understand secondary data organization and describe related basic statistical concepts.
ii. Apply basic statistical skills to understand and organize data, as well as choosing the correct method to analyse
secondary data (using Microsoft Excel).
iii. Develop statistical reasoning skills to make conclusions based on the analyses of the assigned data.
It is expected that you and your team member can work closely and fairly to achieve the course outcome of this
assignment.
INSTRUCTIONS:
i.
Team set up: Please set up a team of TWO (2) students from your class.
ii.
Template: Use the provided template (Excel)
iii.
Data: Each team needs to choose ONE (1) secondary dataset with at least 30 sample size. Please explore

Assignment Title: Once your team has understood your dataset, create a suitable topic for your
assignment. Your team may only proceed with the assignment title after the approval from your
lecturer.
v.
Method & Analysis: Based on the chosen title, determine at least THREE objectives for your
assignment. Then, determine the appropriate methods of analysis (based on the data summary and
presentation) suitable for your data. Please make sure your method & analysis must include:
1. two different charts for Qualitative data.
2. two different charts for Quantitative data. Compare each chart by category.
3. comparison of MCT and MD numerically.

Conclusions: Based on the analyses, apply your statistical reasoning skills to demonstrate your in-depth
overall conclusions that relate all assignment objectives, method & analysis, and your results.
