MYP 2 SA2 IDU Summative Assessment

advertisement
Inquiry: Establishing the purpose of an interdisciplinary unit
Purpose of integration: To understand correlation between the evolution of human societies and the human body by exploring the human developments
biologically and socially.
Key concept(s) / (related concepts)
Global context
Interactions, relationships, patterns, identities and perspectives based on evidences
Orientation in Space and Time
Statement of inquiry
Understanding and correlating virus evolution and genetic mutations as fields of study for establishing relationships and social identities through evidence.
Inquiry questions
Factual: How do we grow and develop (genetically and socially)?
Conceptual: How can individuals be identified through inherited characteristics and social relationships?
Debatable: To what extent different socio-economic determinants, such as poverty level, education, and income affect the population infected by COVID-19?
Summative Assessment —interdisciplinary performance(s) of understanding :Approaches to learning (ATL)
Reflection skills: Consider the process of learning
Information literacy skills: Interpret , judge and create information
Critical thinking skills: Analyze and evaluate ideas
Creative thinking skills: Generate new ideas and perspectives
IDU Assessment Criteria
A. Evaluating
i. analyse disciplinary knowledge
ii. evaluate the interdisciplinary perspectives
B. Synthesizing
i. create a product that communicates a purposeful interdisciplinary purpose
ii justify how their product communicates interdisciplinary understanding
C. Reflecting
i. discuss the development of their own interdisciplinary learning
ii. discuss how new interdisciplinary understanding enables action
TASK DESCRIPTION/OUTLINE:
“…if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperilled in a hundred battles.”
Sun Tzu, The Art of War
TASK OBJECTIVE :
Understanding and correlating virus evolution and genetic mutations as fields of study for establishing relationships and social identities through
evidence.
Criterion A
Topic: How do mutations cause viral evolution?Browse through the video link and the article , answer the following questions :
For Science:
1. https://youtu.be/D9tTi-CDjDU
For I&S:
1. Racial, Economic, and Health Inequality and COVID-19 Infection in the United States | SpringerLink
2. Inequality and COVID-19 – IMF F&D
Q1. Discuss the relationship between mutations and viral evolution. (60-70 words)
Q2. Based on video, analyse for how viral evolution affects the ability of a virus to infect its
host. (60-70 words)
Q3. “Counties with a higher total population, more diverse demographics, higher education,
and income level are at a higher risk of COVID-19 infection; however, counties with a smaller
population, higher disability rates, and higher poverty levels have a higher rate of mortality.”
Justify the statement in 80-100 words. ( Give valid evidences to support the answer)
Criterion B: Create a product
and doodle ( sketchnoting ) your research by adding images and graphics to engage and create a big impact.
Tips for sketchnoting:
1. Capture the key points
2. Add icons, graphical illustrations and elements
Browse the given link to understand what is sketchnoting : https://youtu.be/uzxU6fEcBGo
Based on the given article and resources , undertake the process of discovery and prepare a sketchnote
on “Mutations and Migration of Virus”. Mutations increase genetic diversity and migrations tend to homogenize genetic differences.
Make a sketch note on cause and effect of mutation and impact of viruses.
Criterion C: Discuss the development of your understanding & reflect on your own learning in the given reflection sheet.
Questions we asked:
Factual: How do we grow and develop
(genetically and socially)?
Conceptual: How can individuals be
identified through inherited characteristics
and social relationships?
Debatable: To what extent different
socio-economic determinants, such as
poverty level, education, and income affect
the population infected by COVID-19?
