About the Course:
• This is a course in Feminist
Philosophy, applied ethics and
Philosophy. In the words of
Gayatri Chakravrty Spivak,
“whatever you read, just
gender it”.
• Hence, this course will try to
introduce the idea of gender in
Philosophy and Business. It
deals with questions and
problems of philosophy that
occur in business – the
(gendered)workplace,
marketplace, and business
place.
Course Objectives:
• The goal of the course is to help
students develop the following
concepts and skills:
• Understand first and foremost
that philosophy and business can
go together.
• How to treat different
philosophers and their theories
as a departing point to
understand the conjunction
between Business and
Philosophy.
• Relatability and comparison as
valid sources for understanding
the mundane philosophical
aspect of Business.
• Propose solutions to pertinent
ethical problems, using one or
more of the received normative
ethical theories or techniques.
• This course aims to help students
use philosophical tools to better
understand the business world
and public sphere and to
subsequently reconstruct the
ideal, real world;
• In Kant’s words, the distinction
between ought and should. This
course lies on the
intersectionality of popular
culture, ethics and Philosophy.
• The purpose is to acknowledge,
understand and perceive the
ambiguity in our lives. These
ambiguities rests on personhood,
gender, sexuality, mental health
and ethics.
