I opened my eyes to rays of sun peeking through my window. Unfamiliar with the
brightness, I rolled to my side and glanced at the time. It was nearly 6:30 and none of my chores
were done! I jumped out of bed and wandered to the kitchen. With my tired eyes half-open, I
prepared breakfast for our dragon. After I fed Blaze the Fire Breather, I corralled him and the
other creatures into the barn. We had come to acquire many strange animals, abandoned by
humans who could not care for them. We kept them in a large barn during the day so that they
did not frighten the neighbors. I lassoed the levitating koi fish and placed them back in the pond.
I put muzzles on the giant venus fly traps so as not to eliminate the country’s entire population of
small birds. Finally, I emptied the dishwasher. As I started my car, I knew that I was late for
school.
