You will be assigned to research and write a brief paper about an infectious
disease:
GUIDELINES:
You will write this paper as if it were a chapter or “brief” in a medical
reference text. It will include the following labeled sections:









Introduction (brief intro to the topic and scope of the chapter)
Causal Agent (identify name and kingdom of microbe, means of
infection, target cells)
Geographical Distribution (tell populations susceptible &
locations in world where disease predominates)
Transmission (tell how the disease spreads, life cycle of
pathogen)
Clinical Features (symptoms)
Diagnosis (tell diagnostic tests to confirm)
Treatment (name medicines, tell prescribed diet and rest)
Control Measures (preventative measures to protect individuals
and the spread of an epidemic
Bibliography
In addition, you may include in each section relevant images, diagrams, and
maps.
